5.0 out of 5 stars Pocket full of spiritual first aid
No other book I have ever read is as POWERFUL as 1500 Ways...
I can sit down and invest 15 minutes in this book and by then I am knee deep in spiritual quicksand. That is to say, it fills me with the feeling of spiritual beingness that is rich deep and oh! so REAL you can cut it with a knife. I always take it with me if I have an appointment somewhere and have to...

3.0 out of 5 stars Mystic answers set out in an idiosyncratic way
The title almost says it all - there are 1500 sentences which represent the "simplified wisdoms of the ages." Similar to the Gideon New Testament bible I have, there is a reading program of suggested sentences for the answers you seek, e.g. FOR PROFOUND IDEAS: 24, 186...FOR BANISHING CONFUSIONS:32,124,.. etc. Most of these sentences repeat the same idea(s):...

That is to say, it fills me with the feeling of spiritual beingness that is rich deep and oh! so REAL you can cut it with a knife. I always take it with me if I have an appointment somewhere and have to wait. What a treat. Open the book anywhere and start reading. Whew! Vernon Howard, thank you for all your work in sharing this truth.

I love reading the short sayings. This book brings me to my center where the truth within me resides. I am reading other Vernon Howard books as well. Very insightful.

The title almost says it all - there are 1500 sentences which represent the "simplified wisdoms of the ages." Similar to the Gideon New Testament bible I have, there is a reading program of suggested sentences for the answers you seek, e.g. FOR PROFOUND IDEAS: 24, 186...FOR BANISHING CONFUSIONS:32,124,.. etc. Most of these sentences repeat the same idea(s): seek self awareness; be true; work on your inner self; seek cosmic truths;and so on. Maybe repetition will create awareness, but at times the sentences read like fortune cookie aphorisms and I get the feeling that the author strained himself in writing as many different sentences as he could. Yes, there is content here but there are more accessible vehicles than these "1500 ways." "A jungle-mind scoffs at the idea that there is another land beyond the jungle" (807)"Everyone who is allergic to reality wastes his life trying to prove he is not allergic" (812)"Rightness does not arise from the habitual mind, but from cosmic comprehension." (1196)."Insight into your mind changes thoughts from noisy dictators into quiet servants."(981) Not all the sentences are like the preceding but you get the idea. There are good ideas here if you can get past the quirky writing. Not Gibran, but if it works for you, why not?
