5.0 out of 5 stars Great Thread Nippers
I purchased these thread nippers for use as a fly tying tool. Extremely sharp and easy to use. Finger hole large enough to actually use. Will cut thread just by touching. Easy to keep in hand while tying which is a great time saver thus increasing production.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not the best
These snippers did not hold up for long. The old style snips with the brown, tortoise shell look were much better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Needs a locking stud to keep them closed., March 24, 2011

They cut well enough, of course. I only wish they had a locking stud to keep them closed when not in use. The blunt tip nippers might suit you better if this is a concern, but even they don't lock close. The sharp tip also makes these not so well suited to rip seams. I would buy blunt tipped nippers if I had to do this over.

Very good deal for a Wiss. A must have for anyone that is a long time seamstress or just starting to learn. Great for gifts too!

I use these little gems for quilting projects-not too bulky. Great for the quick snip while sewing. This is my second pair-first pair made in the U.S.A., second pair unfortunately made in China.

The Wiss Speed Cutting Scissors are perfect for fly tying. You can actually leave them in hand and still use your fingers for tying. I really like these scissors! Rarely use the others now. Of course they have many other uses as well. A word of caution though, buy an extra pair for your wife to use!

I purchased these for my "fly-tying" son. He was looking for very slim tipped cutters. These are far superior to any previous ones he has. Same ones priced much higher elsewhere. Can't beat Wiss!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wiss Clips for Fly Tying, March 3, 2010

I use these for fly tying. I bought my original pair in 1982 and they held together until this winter. I can keep these in my hand while I'm tying thanks to the finger ring which is a significant time saver. The fine points are ideal for tying small flies yet the clips have the backbone to cut lead wire, masking tape, etc. You can also buy replacement blades for these clips which is a nice bonus.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good little nippers, June 23, 2011

Shipping was prompt, packaging was sufficient.

I was a little skeptical when I pulled these out of the bag. The handles are plastic and they were pretty light. They are not quite as tight, that is, the blades aren't as tightly positioned as all metal scissors might be but for the price they do a good job. Actually, they do a great job.

I will be using them for fly tying and for most work they will be fine. Really small flies, small delicate work, probably not so good. They are sharp and work great for general purpose fly tying. It would be nice to find a cheap source of replacement blades unfortunately for the prices I have seen you might as well just buy another pair or two of scissors. Keep that in mind if you buy these scissors, buy at least a couple pair.

You can easily spend two or three times as much for a pair of Anvil's and have about the same quality.

These are wonderful - very, very sharp! I like them much better than the Fiskars ones that I bought (and they were 1/3 the price of the Fiskars). Like another reviewer, I wish there was an easy way to keep them closed when not in use, but that's just a small quibble. Highly recommended.

I quilt and this little clipper is now a must have. I am able to keep it in my hand while I am sewing small pieces together at my machine. I also use it instead of a seam ripper. Works great. BEWARE ... it is VERY sharp. I would recommend to anyone.
