Great Idea, If It Worked...,
By
This review is from: 15W Dimmable CFL R30 Style 65W Equivalent
Bought 4 boxes of these bulbs and proceeded to replace all the bulbs in recessed cans around the house (specifically called out as an appropriate use on the package, btw). I'd already replaced bulbs in all the non-dimmable fixtures and have been waiting for a solution to the dimmable CFL issue. I'm still waiting.
Problems include the fact that these lights take a very long time to warm up. As I said I have CFL bulbs all over the house so I'm used to the basic principle, but this ain't right. Most distressing, though, is that they DON'T DIM, or at least don't dim very well. Sliding the dimmer/fader down will dim them to a point, but at about half-power they start to flicker and go out. They don't "catch up" either, once out they stay out. Thinking that the problem was not enough warmup time I left the lights on at full power for 4 hours and then tried to dim them again with the same result: random flickering, then out. Good thing I kept the old bulbs.
