By looking at the product picture of this item (15X Lighted Adjustable Travel Mirror), it is hard to realize its actual size. The unit is so compact, it fits in my palm when folded. The small size makes it suitable as a travel mirror. On the other hand, you also have to cope with its limitations:

1.0 out of 5 stars Great Idea But Not Even Close To Enough Light
It's unfortunate that the lighting isn't even close to adequate because otherwise this is nicely designed and executed. The lighting is so poor that you're better off just using whatever room lighting's available with an unlighted mirror that won't have the bulk of this one. The bulbs are incandescent, not LED, which primarily impacts the battery life. Disappointing. I...

4.0 out of 5 stars Pays for itself after just one Do-It-Yourself eye surgery, April 8, 2010
This review is from: 15X Lighted Adjustable Travel Mirror
By looking at the product picture of this item (15X Lighted Adjustable Travel Mirror), it is hard to realize its actual size. The unit is so compact, it fits in my palm when folded. The small size makes it suitable as a travel mirror. On the other hand, you also have to cope with its limitations:

1. The mirror is less than 4 inches in diameter. Combined with high magnification, it gives a very limited visible area. This means you can only examine a small region of your face at any one time. Plus you only have a working distance of 4-5 inches from the mirror.

2. The two miniature incandescent light bulbs are far from "super bright" as advertised. A set of four AAA alkaline cells (*) can only provide useable illumination for around 2-3 hours. It would be better if LED light sources were used.

In my particular case, I kept this compact mirror in my office in case of emergency "Do-It-Yourself eye surgery" (I have problems with inward growing eyelash). It has just the right size and magnification for this intended purpose. Over the past 2-3 years, it must have paid for itself ten times over. So for that I'm satisfied.

If you need something for daily usage at home, you should look for a magnified mirror with a diameter of at least 8 inches. I highly recommend the Daylight Fluorescent Lighted 10X Mirror, also made by Floxite.

(*) Footnote: The battery compartment accepts four AAA cells. But the cells are actually connected two-in-parallel, in order to double the operating time. A better solution is to power the lights with just two AAA rechargeable cells (see my Customer Image).

5.0 out of 5 stars Super magnifying mirror, March 12, 2010

This is a super mini magnifying mirror. It is small enough to carry with you. It is lighted so you can see well and it is magnified 15X so even those of us who no longer see as well as we used to can see every ectopic hair. I am very satisfied with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars 15x Lighted Magnifying Travel Mirror, April 16, 2010

This is a good lighted magnifying travel mirror that I can either hold in my hand or sit on the counter for hands free operation. The 15x magnification is large enough for me to see what I'm doing to the point of discovering things I had no idea existed on my face. And the product itself is lightweight and small enough to fit in my purse for convenience. However, I've only owned it less than 2 months but have already had to replace the 4 AAA batteries required to operate the light, which I guess might speak to just how much I've used it so far. At first, I thought the cost of this item was a little steep but now that I have used it several times, I find it to be well worth it. All-in-all, I would recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Distortion-free, December 29, 2010
This review is from: 15X Lighted Adjustable Travel Mirror
I purchased this mirror at my local bed and bath store yesterday. I have a 15x mirror with the suction cups in the back and a light but had misplaced it (then found it in my car on my way back from buying this mirror!) I really like these mirrors. The glass is distortion free. Some cheaper ones are similar to fun-house mirrors, but this one is reasonably priced and has great clarity. This is a mirror to use to find every and all imperfections on your skin. This will show it all! I saw the 20x at the store too, but it was a little too difficult to focus your eyes on it even though I can see up-close perfectly. I'm not too concerned about the light. The light on both mirrors cannot compare with strong daylight, I use a bright lamp along with this mirror. It is however, bright enough to use in a dark car without a problem. I love this mirror more than the suction-cup one because of the great way it folds up. It folds up into a big compact and protects the glass from scratches in my purse.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great mirror - as long as the bulbs last, September 29, 2010
This review is from: 15X Lighted Adjustable Travel Mirror
This is a great mirror. The light makes everything much more clear. The only problem is the light bulbs. If you're really lucky, they will last a month. If you're not, they could go in a week.

The mirror arrived just as pictured. It folds smoothly and packs easily, I just keep it in my suitcase. My only issue is that 15x is a little too strong for me, I'd prefer 10x so I could see more of my face, not just one eye at a time. Otherwise, I love it.

1.0 out of 5 stars What is this usable for?, November 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: 15X Lighted Adjustable Travel Mirror
I ordered two of this product thinking it would be good to have one for home and one for work. Well to my chagrin they are unusable. The mirror is so magnified it's impossible to do much with it. The lights are very weak and not worth even having on there. I'm probably going to return these items because I'm so disappointed. I do not recommend these at all. The only thing that work is that they do fold down to a somewhat small disk. Don't buy this product.

The light broke in less than the time it took to put it on

I threw it in the trash
