Kris Kristofferson is a great songwriter and this represents some of his best work done with heart and soul. No matter what genre of music you like, just like Johnny Cash, this should be in all music lovers collections.

This is a perfect album to take you back to those early 70's times. Well worth the price.

Classic Kristofferson,

Almost all these songs were recorded previously by others, but this album gives them the songwriter's gravel-voiced, hard-lived edge that they need. I listened to this and Gordon Lightfoot over and over through college. The songs are classic. If you aren't familiar with them, but appreciate music from the heart of a life lived hard, I highly recommend it. Lyrics like, "the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad, so I had one more for dessert" from Sunday Morning Coming Down take experience to write, much like Gordon Lightfoot's Second Cup of Coffee from his Don Quixote album(I'm on my second cup of coffee and I still can't face the day, I'm thinking of the lady who got lost along the way).
You owe it to yourself to give it a listen. They just don't write them like that anymore.

This album encapsulates everything you would expect from a greatest hits record.
His down home honest, earthy tunes are refreshing even years later, in the time when the music industry has lost it's identity, Kris always delivers.

Although there are some songs on this album I like, I wouldn't purchase it again. The best songs on here were taken from the Silver Tongued Devil album. It's obvious they took songs from many differnt albums to make this complied Greatest Hits.
I recommend buying the Silver Tongued Devil album in order to really hear Kris at his best. I am a big Kris K. fan..from a long way back....as well as Rita Coolidge....Their duets are some of the best....My favorite song on this album is their duet of "I'd Rather Be Sorry". But some of his classic, most recognizable songs--they chose the worst versions he ever did. They sound as though he drank too much, grabbed his guitar and just half-a.. sang the song. This may be called Greatest Hits, but it's not the best work he ever did.....look around more to find that.

I admit I never really was that big of fan of Kris Kristofferson, but I always loved the song "Why Me" and I bought this cd for that song, but when I listened to the whole cd I was blown away by the songs, this collection includes "Sunday Mornin Comin Down", "The Pilgrim", "Help me Make it Though The Night", "From the Bottle to the Bottom", "Once more with Feeling", "Jody and the Kid", "The Taker", and I enjoyed his version of "Me and Bobby McGee" and several other great songs, overall this is a wonderful collection of songs, Razorback Fan

He is a great singer and song writer. I enjoy all of his music. I'm sure everyone who buys this album will enjoy it as much as I do. I have downloaded it to my
ipod, and computer so I can listen to it in my vehicles and while I am on the computer. Everyone who buys this will be very happy with it.

Great album covering earlier to latter, but need more songs for my Kristofferson collection! If you're not an avid Kristofferson collector, however, this covers his tallent pretty well!
