It's too bad they don't put some of his rerecorded work on here instead of the originals but 3 of the last 4 songs are exceptional (i'm not the man i'm supposed to be, how far down can i go, i never go around mirrors) Lefty is the one every country singer should listen to & the good ones did. They can't be done any better.

I admit that old country music was pretty cornball, but it was good cornball. Lefty Frizzell was one of its best practitioners, and this CD has some great examples of his work.

LEFTY FRIZELL 16 BIGGEST HITS,

I will not bore you to tears reciting a litany of how good Lefty Frizell is, you either like his work or you don't. If you didn't like his work you probably wouldn't be here. I just wanted to say I had some of this stuff on compilation albums and wanted an entire alum of his greatest hits.
What worries me about getting older material, which I truly like better than what passes for the "new country music", is the quality of the recordings. In some cases you get a good remaster and in others you get a bad copy of the originals or a "repop" version made by the original artist with a different band and much older. Well you don't have to worry on this disk. The recordings are the originals and the quality is excellent. I gave the coveted 5 stars because it met every expectation. My only question about this album (and others) is why Amazon charges more for the MP3 download than for the CD? Come on Amazon, what's the deal there, there just is no logic with that.
