My Grandma died yesterday. I am planning her funeral and will celebrate her life with the things she loved most, her family and music. She loved all kinds of music. Her favorite song was Red River Valley. I didn't know where in the world to find this song in remembrance of Sophie. Thanks for making it available to me. I'm remembering how she sang me to sleep with this song. Now I can play it over and over and remember Grandma. THANK YOU!!!

Smooth western music, February 18, 2006
This review is from: 16 Great Songs Of The Old West (Audio CD)
Finding this album was a blast from the past. A favorite of my siblings (we wore the album out), the recordings here recall a romantic version of the old west. The songs are classics, the voices smooth, the instrumentations flawless. Will make you want to take a bedroll and sleep under the stars.

Great Songs of the Not-so Old West, December 28, 2007
This review is from: 16 Great Songs Of The Old West (Audio CD)
This CD was a Christmas gift for my father that I've yet to hear myself, as I live abroad, but I can safely give it 5 stars on the strength of feedback from family members. Specifically mentioned were the high quality of the re-mastering and the polished professionalism of the performances. Sweetly nostalgic, this collection of songs from an era that romanticized the "Old West" really did hit the mark, in spite of a wide range of individual musical tastes. Three generations of my family actually sang along to "Red River Valley" together. I don't think anyone could say there's a single duff track on the album.
(I think they actually phoned me to ask what Roy Rogers' dog's name was. I immediately thought: "Bullet"?...)
