Used in hundreds of college theory classes around the nation.This edition of the chorales differs from all others in that the divers harmonizations of a given melody are transposed to the same key and presented on the same page in perfect vertical alignment. For the first time in any modern edition for study, German text underlay is included and instrumental obbligatos, interludes, and free parts are cued. A separate Appendix provides the following information: the larger work-source (cantata, oratorio, or passion) for each harmonization, its original key, its instrumentation, an English translation suitable for singing, and a list of other works by Bach in which the melody appears. Also included is a Breitkopf & Hartel/ G. Schirmer Concordance. Extensively used in College Theory Courses for 13 years
