5.0 out of 5 stars Baroque perfection!, December 10, 2008
This review is from: 17th Century Christmas Eve (Audio CD)
We bought this CD while living in Europe on whim. We have quite a large collection and I absolutely love baroque better than any other period of music. This is, without question, my favorite Christmas recording ever. Susanne Ryden has the most lovely pure soprano I've ever heard, has impeccable intonation and diction, and understands the style better than anyone else except, maybe, the incomparable Emma Kirkby. If you love this type of music you simply MUST add this one to your CD collection. We were at a party recently and put this CD into the mix of music at the party and a staff member of the local public radio station sought me out to find out what this glorious recording is -- recognizing that this is not the type of music that everyone loves, but if you really appreciate baroque, you really need this one.
