The past 18 Months have been a great journey for Scotland's Calvin Harris. Not only did he score that phenomenal hit "We Found Love" for Rihanna but that was followed by the equally brilliant "Let's Go" featuring Ne-Yo. In October, the club ready "Sweet Nothing" featuring Florence was released making this the SIXTH pre-album release single. Is there any other artist that can boost of such an accomplishment?

If you are a fan of David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia or just high quality electro / House/ Dance music in general then this is the cd for you. "I Need your Love" and "Thinking About You" are both radio and dance friendly and virtual no-brainers to be released as future hits...

There are THREE VERSIONS of this cd:
VERSION 1 - STANDARD EDITION containing the 15 tracks all in complete unmixed format.
VERSION 2 - LIMITED EDITION 2 CD containing cd 1 the 15 tracks along with CD 2 a one hour mixed compilation by Calvin
featuring other versions and remixes of the songs.

VERSION 3 - JAPANESE BONUS TRACK EDITION (The one I bought)- 15 + 4 (19 songs) which includes the highly sought after "Sweet Nothing TIESTO remix" and Michael Woods Remix of "We'll Be Coming Back". This also comes with a second cd that is a mixed compilation.

Scottish performer/songwriter/producer Calvin Harris' new Dance music CD reads like a greatest hits CD. 6 of the tracks on the album have made the top 2 in the UK; "Bounce" (featuring Kelis), "Feel So Close" (featuring Harris' more confident-sounding vocals), the Trance "Let's Go" (featuring Ne-Yo who sounds great on the track), "We'll Be Coming Back" (featuring Example), the worldwide smash "We Found Love" (featuring Rihanna), and the sublime "Sweet Nothing" (featuring Florence Welch of The Machine fame), the latter two hit number 1. All are catchy and guaranteed to get you moving on the dance floor, while managing some sonic variety unlike say David Guetta tracks.

The Dub Step "Iron" features Nicky Romero, "I Need Your Love" features Ellie Goulding and appeared as a bonus track on her "Halcyon" CD), the ravey "Drinking From The Bottle" features Dizzee rascal (who name checking icons Cyndi Lauper and Blondie, jokes about Kim Kardashian, and declares "Forget about tomorrow... tonight, we're drinking from the bottle!"), the skeletal "Here 2 China" features Dillon Francis and Dizzee Rascal (and some earth quaking bass and beats), and "Thinking About You" features Ayah Marar (and some stabbing synths). The other songs are brief instrumentals with whiffs of Daft Punk, with the slow paced dreamy "Green Valley", and the upbeat pair of "School" and "Awooga" standouts.

With lyrics rarely straying from love, or having a good time, this one is aimed squarely at the dance floor with fists pumping in the air.

"18 Months" by Calvin Harris is a fun cd that combines various electronica, dance, and dub-step elements. I also like that his choice of music collaborations are eclectic and work with the theme of the songs. I was lucky to have already been acquainted with his music because of his work with Kylie Minogue on her "X" cd. He has also worked with Neyo and Rihanna for "We Found Love" and "Let's Go" (which are also both on this cd). "Feel So Close", "Bounce" (featuring Kelis), "We'll Be Coming Back" (featuring Example), "Iron" (featuring Nicky Romero), "I Need You" (featuring Ellie Goulding), and "Sweet Nothing" (featuring Florence Welch from Florence and The Machine) are all also some of the great songs in this collection. "18 Months" by Calvin Harris is a suitable purchase for those who like electronica, trance, and/or dance music.

I've been going on a CD buying rampage over the last month - even though I use Spotify! However, I don't use Spotify premium. One thing Spotify has allowed me to do is to listen to a full album of an artist I'm interested in for a while. This allows me to "try" the CD. when i really like the CD as a whole and get tired of the spotify ads, I've decided to buy the CD. I bought Drake, Frank Ocean, and now Calvin Harris. I think 80% of this CD plays well with good flow. It's catchy, with good beats, uplifting, and positive.

I had heard a few of these songs before the album came out, and had loved Ready for the Weekend, so I was pumped for this. He didn't disappoint. There are a few duds here, but not very many.

This will probably end up my most spun album this year. My standout track (tough choice) is Feel So Close.
