This is a very good compilation but what's keeping me from giving it 5 stars is that they edit out parts from a few songs like Bad Company's Feel Like Makin' Love, Cheap Trick: The Flame and Alan Parsons Project: Eye in the Sky but if you like classic rock music then you'll like this CD.

I have to admit that I bought this CD for "Burning for you" by BOC. I can now say this whole CD is full of absolute classics from the 80's (none of that Hair-Band [stuff]).

I recommend this to anyone and everyone.

The first volume in a series of 3, 18 Rock Classics Vol. 1 provides the listener with a nostalgic ride spanning two decades. The album is a decent mix of deep ballads and fun, hard rockers. Many of the more popular bands are represented here, though the music presented is not always their best-known selections.

Opening up on the simple accoustic strums of Bad Company's "Feel Like Makin' Love," the album gives us a pleasant taste of the hard rock that is to come. With such classics like Asia's "Don't Cry" and Blue Oyster Cult's "Bummin' for You" mixed with powerful ballads like "Keep On Loving You" by REO Speedwagon and Kansas' "Dust in the Wind," we are taken on a trip down memory lane filled with the highs and lows of life.

The only downfall of this album is the choices made for the songs. Sure, Toto has "Africa" and Foreigner has "I Want to Know What Love Is," but when you hear of Fleetwood Mac, you think of such a classic as "Gypsy," not "Hypnotized." Personally, I would have rather seen Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama" than "What's Your Name." Overall, though, 18 Rock Classics is an excellent collection, and one of the best I have seen so far. The album is mostly mid-tempo to hard rock and rock-pop. It is calm compared to its next of kin, Volume 2, where such acts as Motley Crue and Alice Cooper are represented.
