London debut--Anthemic & epic, ringing indie rock with an invigorating, vivacious strength and
resilience. Big drums, soaring keyboards, gripping guitar work, captivating baritone vocals and a
loosely psychedelic "no-fear" approach to classic arrangements all combine to make a powerful
album with a feel that is familiar, but not derivative. The band has the confident swagger of
youth and belief in the potential of each note; the kind of charisma that makes stadium rock hits
out of pub/drinking songs. Recalls bands like The Clash, The Libertines, The Veils, The Alarm,
Titus Andronicus, The Skids, The Boomtown Rats, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Almost every
song begs for repeated play. It's the kind of rockin' album that you don't' want to end.

Palma Violets are a garage rock band, but they are not trying to relive a bygone era of music. Ditching the electronics and big beat that seem to dominate the music scene these days (including The Strokes), the Violets are a straight-forward rock band. The lyrics are not complex or profound, but that's not what I wanted from PV's. I own this on vinyl, which adds to the warm sound. As vinyls these days often do, mine came with an MP3 coupon to download the album electronically for no extra cost.

The best songs in my opinion are: We Found Love, Best of Friends, and 14. Despite having my favorites, I prefer to listen to the album front to back.

These guys are mix of all the great British music from the past. Like The Who, Clash, Small faces. It's a raw basic sound with great vocals and a solid mix of sound. Has the feeling of a live album.

Very good first effort. Looking forward to hearing them mature as songwriters. By the way, if you have a chance to catch them live DO IT NOW. They are playing small clubs and the live show is absolutely electrifying.

Palma Violets debut album is a full-tilt aural assault that pulls from punk pioneers like The Clash and The Sex Pistols. These lads are on to something here.

This is the best album by a new artist so far this year. They are fabulous in person too (I saw them at the Osheaga Music Festival in Montreal).

A lot of people were throwing around Clash comparisons describing this band. They're interesting but they don't have the passion to merit mention with the greats.

This band has its own character and sound, and stands on its own quite well, but, at times, it will faintly, happily remind you of The Clash.

Very solid.

I bought this and was originally worried that the vinyl might get scratched in the mail but it came in perfect condition!
