The spice rack looks excellent. I highly recommend it if you're going with a wall hanging rack. I put it up and it looks great and at much lower cost than a lot of other racks. This rack is deep enough to fit large spice containers or even condiment bottles.
A quick note on installation: The rack didn't come with any hanging instructions. It comes with 4 long screws which are likely best if you're hanging the rack on a substance such as solid wood. It also comes with 4 anchors and 4 shorter screws for use in walls made of soft substances such as drywall. It, however, doesn't have instructions for what size hole to drill for the anchors. I started small and moved up until I found the right size, so here are some instructions for future buyers who choose to use the anchors. 1. place the rack on the wall where you would like it. If you have one, use a level to make sure it is level. Use a pencil to mark the holes or something hard to put a small divot at the center of each of the four holes. Remove the rack from the wall. 2. Use a power drill and a 1/4" bit to drill 4 holes at each of the places you marked. drill deep enough to fit in the entire plastic anchor. Most likely, you'll drill through 1/4 to 1/2 inch of drywall and then hit empty space on the other side. 3. Push the anchors in as far as you can. Use a hammer to hammer them in the rest of the way. 4. Put the rack back over the anchors and use a #2 phillips screw driver to hand drive the 4 screws into place. Put them each in loose at first. Then tighten each. You shouldn't need to crank them down too hard. 5. Put your spices in your new beautiful wall rack.

Neu Home Gourmet Spice Rack,
This review is from: Neu Home 1812 Organize It All 3-Tier Wall-Mounted Spice Rack, Chrome (Kitchen)
I had just wanted a spice rack to put inside my pantry - one that was sturdy presentable, and most important, cheap! This one works great - doesn't get dusty like the wooden ones do, holds even my larger bottles of spices. I had ordered two, but I may order another two since other small cans and bottles fit - like vienna sausages and vinegar bottles. Very heavy, durable, quality product for the price. Would recommend.

I am very pleased with this high quality, low cost spice rack. It took a little while to arrive, but the price is great and the quality is high. It is not at all flimsy and comes with two different sets of hardware. One is a set of anchors and screws in case you want to mount it on drywall (as I did). Another is a set of longer screws if you plan to mount it directly into solid wood. My fiancee loves it so much that we're ordering another one. The only downside is that we can only fit about 17 spices onto it -- which is why we're buying another one to place on the wall beneath it.

I was looking for a well made, good looking spice rack for a smaller cabinet door. It was perfect.
What I like about is that the shorter spice bottles don't fall out, is well made, and looks classy. It was easy to install.

My husband & I are very analytical (picky) and often end up not making a purchase because we cannot make a decision. This is one purchase we are absolutely platinum proud of. (I was able to get rid of the cardboard box at the bottom of the pantry that I kept all the spices in.) The rack is strong and was easily mounted. I mounted it on the wall in our pantry. I was able to align one side of the rack in the middle of a stud so I only had to use 2 of the plastic anchors on the other side. We are so pleased, we are ordering another to mount below this one. Worth every penny!
(Sheetrock) I aligned the holes on the left side of the rack in the center of the stud, leveled, then marked all 4 holes with pencil. I did not have a drill. I prescrewed the longer screws about halfway through the sheetrock into the stud, then took them out. I just used the shorter wider screw to start the holes for the two anchors, then I gently hammered in the two anchors on the right hand side. (Be gentle, I broke one of the anchors hammering too hard the first time, good thing I had the 2 extra I wasn't using since I hit a stud on the other side!) After both anchors were in, I took a hand-held screwdriver, held the rack up over the holes and screwed in the screws.

This rack isn't adjustable, but the shelves are just the right height for most things you might keep in your spice cabinet. It's well-built and heavy. In fact, take that into consideration when deciding whether your cabinet doors and hinges are robust enough for the added weight.
The wire rectangle back that the shelves are mounted to seems to extend needlessly below the bottom shelf and slightly complicates the flush mounting of the rack so that the cabinet door closes properly (if mounted inside the cabinet).

I looked this up again because the head contractor working on my apartment right now told me how great it looks. He wanted to know where I got it. I realized I never got around to writing a review for it, so here it is!It's carpenter approved! It was exactly what I was looking for, The Container Store, Target, Kmart, none of these places had what I needed. I wanted something I could put on the INSIDE of my cabinet, but everything was outside or just something else to take up space on the counter. Or wall mounted. Or in most cases, meant for a larger pantry. This one mounts easily on the inside of the doors and, if you're careful, will close properly, too. I was careful, but still made mistakes. I have to close both doors at the same time to get it to close properly. Otherwise, it just takes a slight, rattling, nudge. But I'm no contractor. I'm sure someone with more of a knack for this stuff will get it right the first or 2nd time. I'm only disappointed that it does cost me about an inch of space in my cabinet. It's annoying because I have a small apartment and only one cabinet for everything, spices and dishes included. So every inch counts. But I can fit some of the bigger bottles on it, so it's a good trade-off. I combined it with one of those 3-step shelves from Target and I get a little extra room...which was filled up right away. Did I mention it looks great, too? The chrome is a nice touch, goes well with my wood doors. If you're building a cabinet and think it through beforehand, you can use chrome or steel hinges so it all comes together perfectly. But it still looks perfect, regardless.

Hung two of these side by side on the back of the door to our pantry. It's just a cheap hollow inside door, but we used the short screws that came with the shelf (included both short screws, and long screws with sheetrock anchors and they have held up well. It's only been a few days but the shelves are completely stable.
Also have not had a problem with the short McCormick red-lid spices, they don't seem to slide out as others have mentioned. They do not hold the larger (rectangle-ish) spice bottles, but hold our small and regular spice bottles just fine, as well as sprinkles. Highly recommend. |
