All my favourite Namie songs in one!,
By Kuraku "An-chan" (Dallas, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 181920 (Audio CD)
The tracks on this CD covers her early years, but is a good collection of hits if you are new to Namie Amuro and want to discover what she's about. She has a catchy style and her voice is unique (most J-Pop singers tend to have that high, shrilly generalized voice, but Namie's has a sultry, rich feel to hers). If you're into dancing away to some nice J-Pop tunes, give this CD a try.

The ultimate collection for the nineties Amuro fan,
By
This review is from: 181920 (Audio CD)
This CD, in a nutshell, is the perfect collection of all of Namie's nineties works. Most, if not all, of the songs on this CD have made it as chart-topping singles, and each song is indicative of Namie's reign as a J-Pop queen. If you've never heard of Namie and is interested in J-Pop, this CD is great for the expansive listener. Basically, if you're into Eurobeats, this is perfect for you. The lyrics are predominantly in Japanese, although some key chorus words are in English... if only I knew Japanese.... If you want to experience the JPOP scene, this CD is the best way to start off.

A word of caution, I think...,
This review is from: 181920 (Audio CD)
If you're like me and you're interested in buying this CD because you've heard the sexy, sultry "Come" and beautiful, upbeat "Four Seasons" from the Inuyasha series and movies, a word of caution... The songs on this cd are NOTHING like those two songs. NOTHING!!! Where "Come" is mellow and sexy and "Four Seasons" is soothing and absolutely gorgeous, this CD isn't like that at all. The majority of the songs on this disc are laden with very, very techno heavy, fast beats and rhythms. In almost every song, ms. Amuro is singing in a much higher pitched voice than I experienced with the two songs mentioned above. This is not at all what I expected, so naturally, I'm greatly disappointed. I figured her style would be consistent, and that a "best singles" CD would be great... this is not the case when an artists style does a 180 degree flip in the past couple of years. To be fair, however, if I give it a chance, it will probably grow on me. The shock of it not being what I thought it would be is disheartening at the moment. I expected one thing and instead feel like I just purchased the Hamster Dance soundtrack or something. :-p If you want something more like "Come" and "Four Seasons" get her Style or Queen of Hip-Pop CDs. I know I am! I do enjoy the song "Dreaming I was Dreaming." It's a little slower and less techno-ish than all the other songs on the CD, maybe even a little jazzy/funky... but that's the only one that caught my attention upon first listen. Anyway, this is just a word of caution so you're not sitting here upset and wanting your $14 back like me. :) I just don't want anyone else to be let down. Well, it'll make a good work out CD at least.

While I don't have the CD, I have heard two of the songs on it, "Body Feels Exit" and "How To Be A Girl". Yep. They sound REALLY good. This's the self-named High Preistess of J-Pop signing off!
