This historic document is the earliest accounting of Phillipsburg, whose residents were members of Count Leon's New Philadelphia Society (1832-33). Most members had seceded from Georg Rapp's Harmony Society at Economy. The original non-government census, penned in archaic German script, is reproduced in full, each page facing an English translation interspersed with notes. A comprehensive listing of the NPS is appended; by 1833, many had already left Phillipsburg.
