Product Description

Aptly named for the year Lucchese created its first boots, the 1883 Lucchese brand is reminiscent of the traditional hallmarks of handcrafted boots of the era. The handcrafted Lucchese 1883 cowboy boot showcases a genuine lizard foot, lizard inlay, and a leather saddle vamp. 13" fancy stitched smooth leather shaftfort cushion insole and quality full welt. Medium toe and comfort walking heel.

The Lucchese story starts in 1880 when Sam Lucchese Sr. and his brothers came to America. He was just 17 years old at the time, but Lucchese knew he wanted to be a boot maker. Just three years later, the Lucchese Boot Company was born in San Antonio, Texas. In 1960 the founder’s grandson and namesake took over the family business and decided to rethink the art of boot-making. Sam Lucchese Jr.’s fascination and understanding of the human foot inspired him to create a boot design that fit like no other. Although Lucchese’s exclusive boot last design required more skill and time, the result was a boot that quickly gained national recognition for its extraordinary comfort, quality and fit. Every Lucchese boot is hand inspected twice. In virtually every procedure during the production on a Lucchese boot, human hands are relied upon to complete the task to near-perfection. Every inch of a Lucchese boot is made of the finest grade of leathers. Slip your foot into a Lucchese and experience comfort you never thought possible.

    Fit:
I'm 6ft tall, 165lbs. I wear a size 10.5 US sports shoe. My foot has a slightly narrow width, but I usually fit into a regular-width just fine. This Lucchese boot as a size 10D fits me perfectly. Admittedly, I didn't buy this first pair from Amazon, but from a Western warehouse near Dallas TX, and that's for good reason: if you're buying a boot without trying it on to see how it fits/feels, and comparing it to other boots of different sizes and brands, then you're doing it completely wrong. Boots should fit snug like gloves, so you should be trying on a wide variety of brands, styles and brands in one sitting before deciding on a boot. So if you've never tried this specific boot on before to test its fit/comfort to your foot's shape, I wouldn't trust buying it for the first time online. Now that I own and love a pair of N1006.R4 Lucchese's, I would totally trust buying another pair here from Amazon or anywhere online. *For my specific foot shape* they were comfortably snug right out of the box. After some usage, there was very little, even unnoticeable time breaking them in to the shape of your foot. A year later, they are still the most comfortable boots I have ever worn.

    Quality:
Lucchese has a solid reputation for quality boots, and the N1006.R4's don't disappoint. The bottoms are lizard, and the shaft are goat, so you have to be careful with what and how you clean/polish them. Breathability is really good, and weather sealing is phenomenal. Not once has dust or rain ever penetrated them. The quality is outstanding.

    Usage:
As with many boots, the grip is great in dirt and porous surfaces like rock or concrete, but they get real slippery on surfaces like a rain-on-marble combination. Also slippery in snow/ice and sidewalk combination.

I bought these boots for my husband's birthday during the summer. Although they were beautiful, he could not wear them. Originally he thought it was because the heels are taller than he was used to, and felt he could "break them in" until they were more comfortable. Finally, out of frustration, I took the boots to a boot repair shop here in Austin, Texas to have the heels changed out to a flat heel so he could wear them. The cobbler told me it was not possible, because the shank built in the arch of the boot was too high, extending it through to the bottom of the heel. He asked me if these were "seconds", because he had never seen a pair of Lucchese boots made this poorly. I could not believe it. The cobbler filed the heel down as best as he could, to lessen the dramatic defect. I wished I had returned the boots initially, but instead held out hope the Lucchese quality would win out. Now, 4 months later, it's too late. I've learned a very important lesson.
