The charger I first received didn't work. My wife said I was crazy to contact the seller for a replacement as my daughter hadn't kept any of the paperwork for proof of the transaction. I tried anyway and got immediate results. Within two days a new charger arrived and has been working fine ever since. I'll never buy a charger from anywhere else again.

I bought this AC power adapter to have an extra, always in my laptop carrying case. I had forgotten to pack my adapter for a trip, and this caused great inconvenience when my battery ran down, and I had no way to recharge.

This adapter is identical to the one that came with my Dell Vostro 1500 when I bought it, and I have found no difference from the original equipment in performance.

It worked great for about 9 months until it just stopped working one day. I'm guessing these AC adapters are really poor quality given the problems myself and several others have had.

Also don't bother buying these from Westronics / Genuine Adapters if you're hoping for any warranty support - Dell doesn't consider them an authorized seller and won't exchange them when they die. Westronics will only exchange them for up to 90 days.

What can I say, it's a genuine Dell power adapter. It works well, just like my original. WAY better price than buying it from Dell directly. I, unlike other reviewers, did not have quality issues (e.g. defective item). Highly recommended.

Bought this charger to replace my old one that stopped working. It was brand new, and works like a champ so far.

It was delivered promptly and worked well for 2 months. Then it started working only intermittently, and then started crackling and hissing, sounding like it was ready to explode or catch fire. Dell can do better than this for quality!

I open my package with such glee. My new power cord for my computer is in my hands. Knowing that this is the 6th replacement for my laptop charger I expect it work well for me. I plug it in and am satisfied as the product works and charges my computer battery. Ah solid charging.

But oh no, 2 months later and the cord decides to stop working. First stops charging every now and then leading you to adjust the cord like you would an old rabbit ears antennae. Then if you are truly unlucky it starts to spark and heat up really bad. (almost catching fire) The wires melt or split off or worse. Then it fails all together and you are stuck waiting for your new cord to arrive in the mail. And then you get 2-3 months and then you start all over again.

I'm now waiting for my seventh cord. After this, I'm going to buy a new computer and honestly I am not going to support Dell again.

What I have, and what I bought for a replacement, are very different.
The transformer block on the one that I HAVE, the one that has always powered my Dell Vostro 1700 has *two* contacts, see image.
The one I GOT has *three* contacts. See image.
Frustratingly, the one I got *also* does not come with the cord that goes from the wall to the block. Only the block to the laptop.
I'm not knocking Westronix, or Amazon, or really anybody, I am just saying; this item does NOT in fact, power a Dell Vostro 1700 so keep looking.
I don't know WHAT it would power but I am hopeful that the images match what you WANT.

Hey Guys I just bought DELL 19.5V AC Power Adapter for Vostro 1700 1500 and 1400 Laptop. I am happy with adapter till now. I bought another adapter previously but that was crap... and this one is working absolutely fine.

This power adapter works great. It is nice not to have to share with my kids anymore. If you buy a generic charger, you would pay three times as much.
