I wanted an old school holster for my M1911 and this one definitely does the job. First off, it's American made, which is especially heartening in these days and is even more appropriate in a this product. Kamabee makes a quality holster that's a great deal all around. It's got the classic look of the WW I holsters and is perfect for people who just like the old style or are doing historical re-enactments etc. The holster is form reinforced inside, so it fits a full size M1911 snug. The leather is heavy and very good quality and the brass and metal working are good. The welds are a bit utilitarian, but the overall quality is beyond what I'd expect, especially at this price. The formed leather is quite stiff and seems like it will hold up quite well. One minor quibble, the magazine pouches are a bit snug, but you can easily stretch them out. I'd suggest putting a handful of large nails (3 1/2") into supplied cardboard shipping forms so as to increase their overall volume and letting the holster rest on the shelf while it stretches. Still though, thats not really a big deal and I'd much rather mag pouches be a bit tight than too loose; leather can always stretch, but shrinking it is not too easy and I don't want full magazines flying out of my belt, so tight is fine. Sportsmen's Guide shipped quickly and they have some more info on their webpage about this item as well.

I have to say that this is a good holster for the price. My colt commander 1911 fits great and I used it to carry my 1911 while i work around my farm. The mag carrier creates a bit of a problem. It is great and will hold the standard 7 round colt mags with no problem. however, my Wilson combat 8 round mag will not fit in the mag carrier. The holster is however made out of good leather and seems to hold up great for regular punishment. I am very happy with the holster and look forward to years of use.

Granted I plucked the year out of obscurity, since the US military was (obviously) still carrying the 1911 as "business as usual". I actually purchased this for my Grandfather. He had a fairly respectable 1911 with a sweet double action conversion done to it just sitting in a small box. It wasn't anything special, and never gave the impression that the pistol was accessible if he needed to use it (home defense wise). I saw this holster and thought of him! He served in the U.S. Army during the late 40's early 50's and was quite familiar with the US stamped military holsters. His eyes lit up (or so I imagined) as I had it shipped directly to his house (I'm lazy). I called later to confirm the quality, comfort, and ease of use. All of which were confirmed as "best he'd ever seen". My Grandpa went into greater detail, but in a nutshell he confirmed what the seller has already stated in the original Amazon page. It's good quality, and looks/feels great. I played with it a few months later after his .45 had broken the holster in, and I must say it held up well! Very impressed, and would recommend this quality leather holster/belt to anyone looking for one!

The leather is pretty stiff. You have to work it in like a glove. This holster should last as a good field holster for me. The only problem with it is the belt. The belt is not adjustable enough. To put it simply, it is made for a fat person. I am on the thin side so I'm going to have to get somebody to cut down the belt.
But for the price I payed, I can't complain a whole lot. :)
