This review is from: 1920X1200 LCD Tv Tuner Box Pip Tuner & Game Adapter PS2/3 & Wii (Personal Computers)
We use these in a home surveillance system to convert baseband video (i.e., composite video) to play on LCD computer monitors throughout the house.Update: Since only one person out of two found my review helpful, more info: The unit takes a variety of inputs (in our case, composite video, but also, for example, S video and I think Wii (or PlayStation?) with the supplied cable) and converts it to play on a computer (VGA) monitor. It also has a built in TV tuner which works with basic cable TV. (i.e., will not decode digital cable.) It has its own (small) speaker and a remote control. The remote control is actual THE (only) way you control TV channeling and volume, so if you're going to watch TV with this, you need to use the remote. You can set the output resolution to accommodate a variety of monitors (including wide screen) and a few refresh rates. In our case, we're running old Dell 15 inch 4:3 LCD monitors throughout the house and set the resolution to the native resolution of the Dell's at 800x600 at 75Hz. In the laundry room, we brought cable to the unit too, so the homemaker can watch the Weather Channel from basic cable on the VGA monitor if she wants while she irons instead of watching the outside of the house. (Note: We have digital cable, but the cable company also sends analog cable along and that's what this unit plays.) Again, it has its own speaker. While not "hi-fi" audio and a little tinny, it's good enough for this application. We had five of the older Kworld versions of this. (Pre-wide screen units.) One failed after two years. One never did work quite right (kept losing synch). So we bought two of these newer units as replacements. So far, so good. We bought ours from Amazon for $55. The price dropped to $40 a couple weeks later on Black Friday, so you know that's probably close to cost. Considering what dedicated surveillance companies charge for converters to do this, an excellent buy either way, especially at the lower price.

Just What I needed,
This review is from: 1920X1200 LCD Tv Tuner Box Pip Tuner & Game Adapter PS2/3 & Wii (Personal Computers)
I bought a DVD player, with Netflix, YouTube etc.,thinking I could hook it up to my old LCD monitor to use in my exercise room. The DVD player, however, did not have a VGA input. This thing had all the cables to make it work. Not only that you can plug the cable tv into it as well(no digital channels). The picture isn't that great, but I didn't expect that.
