This album presents the original sounds of the Roaring Twenties, as played by the famous California Ramblers (along with several different vocalists) during 1925 to 1928. They were one of the consistently reliable dance bands of the '20s, playing 'hot' music of a very high order, and what is more, playing it in strict tempo a good ten years before we understood the term in connection with ballroom dancing.

This is a cut-down version of the excellent Timeless collection of California Ramblers sides recorded for Columbia. That collection, with an additional ten tracks, is in print and available on Amazon, so buy it already - support Timeless and ignore these bootleggers!

I just received my copy of "Flapper Party" by the California Ramblers -- and I loved it! Regarding the previous reviewer's negative review of this album, this 'Flapper Party' cd has fewer tracks. True. And, yes, the California Ramblers cd has additional songs. But despite that, "Flapper Party" is still a good album. This is the tenth, and last, 1920's music cd I've added to my Jazz Age music collection. All my selected cds make great background music when I'm reading whichever book from my personal library on the Roaring Twenties, mentally transporting me to that era.

Anyway, for those who are interested in this album, give it a shot!

I believe that if the listener pays attention, he or she will discover many melodies still popular today, &
used in TV commercials, movies and such. The listener should make an attempt to discover the lyrics of as many songs as possible here, say on youtube and will attain much greater enjoyment from them.
