Red Nichols was one of the most influential jazz bandleaders of the first half of the 20th Century. It was though the series of recordings he made between 1925 and 1930, 25 of which are featured here, that consolidated his reputation as a innovative leader and as a conduit for the emergence of many of the great players who would rise to fame during the Swing era. Tracks include; ""I Got Rhythm"",""Bugle Call Rag"", ""Mississippi Mud"",""My Gal Sal"", ""Boneyard Shuffle"".

Good sampling of Red Nichols,

This is a great sampling of Red Nichols from his "glory years" of 1926-1930. The sound quality is as good as it gets. Musically, all the tracks are at least "good," and quite a few of them are downright "great."
If you're only going to own one Red Nichols CD, this one is a very good candidate.
