This review is from: 1935 Negro League East-West All-Star Game (Audio CD)
The announcer was lame, but, wow, what a game!

The game including some of the all-time Negro Leagues greats: Josh Gibson, Oscar Charleston, Cool Papa Bell, and others.

Without giving spoiler I will say that it was an extremely eventful and interesting game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Turning back the clock to 1935, January 5, 2010

This review is from: 1935 Negro League East-West All-Star Game (Audio CD)
I purchased this double cd set a few months after purchasing the new Negro League All Star Greats from Srat-o-matic. I loved listening to the announcements of the starting line ups and imagining myself replaying this all star game myself, using the cards that came with my favorite table top baseball game: Strat-o-matic! The announcer painted a grand picture of ole time baseball that makes me imagine that I'm home in front of my radio and actually listening to the game.
I can understand why there were so many errors in that all star game. Since the Negro League rosters were limited to just 14 to 16 players, many of the players played everyday, not resting for many many days, playing tired and making lots of errors. I was happy to hear that Josh Gibson was in the lineup. Image what an impact this player might have made after the color barrier had been broken had he lived and not died young? This game could not have been scripted better in Hollywood with both teams tied after nine innings and both teams scoring 4 runs each in the tenth inning to keep it tied. Then the dramatic 11th inning which ended with a 3 run walk off homer!!!
Wow great ending for a great game. This two cd set makes me imagine that I'm transported back to 1935, sitting in the bleachers of Commisky Park and eating peanuts and hot dogs and wearing knickers and not having a care in the world.[[ASIN:0879462809 Strat-O-Matic Fanatics: The Unlikely Success Story Of A Game That Became An American Passion]
