5.0 out of 5 stars Bobby Darin's last album April 29, 2008
By ronna
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This is the last album Bobby Darin recorded. He died 12/20/1973; this album was post-humously released in February 1974. That fact alone makes it a special album. One particularly special song is "Happy" from Lady Sings the Blues. Bobby's rendition is beautiful; his voice is strong & vital. You'd never know he was ill at the time. "Sail Away" is another treasure. This CD is not easy to find & I'm ever so glad to have it in my collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy This September 8, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
If you are any type of Darin fan, this is a definite must for your collection. Just the rendition of Mack the Knife is worth the price. However, I bought this especially for the hard-to-find rendition of Happy (Theme from Lady Sings The Blues). Darin's souful, heartfelt delivery of this song will invade your mind and soul. This is a very hard to find CD (at least it was for me) so if you see it, grab it quickly. I promise, you won't regret this Classic Album!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A really good record December 20, 2009
Format:Audio CD
4.5 stars

No doubt about it, Bobby Darin was an exceptional artist. This album was released shortly after Darin's death. Hard to believe he's been gone 36 years! His music keeps him an enduring presence in my mind.

This collection contains some dynamite material: "Sail Away" (Randy Newman", live versions of "If I Were A Carpenter" (Tim Hardin) and "Mack the Knife" (Weill - Brecht - Bernstein)," and a stand-out interpretation of Dylan's "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right."

Darin was a first-rate interpreter and a good, sometimes great, songwriter. That he ended his career on Motown Records is fitting -- his vocalizing was an irresistable mix of rhythm and blues and Las Vegas flash. This album shows both sides, and a lot more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great music December 28, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
As usual, Darin music is great, but the cd had a few skips in it, so that is disappointing. Can't beat Bobby Darin music!
