Jan Savitt's band of the Big Band Era deserves mention.,
By A Customer
This review is from: 1939 (Audio CD)
The recent 5-disc Smithsonian collection features Bon Bon vocalizing on Vol Vist Du Gaily Star (don't ask what it means, please!), but this CD features, among several standards, his classic 720 in the Book. It belongs in anyone's collection of '30's Big Band esoterica.

Memory Lane,

This review is from: 1939 (Audio CD)
This album is a real find. My father-in-law played alto sax with Jan Savitt and his Top Hatters prior to entering WW2. He played on each of these songs and until now, they only existed in his memory. He is now 80 years old and this gift of "his" music is terrific.
