5.0 out of 5 stars Love it, love it, love it!!
This is the greatest Christmas music..I look forward to listening to it every year! It recalls the WWII era in the most touching way - sentimental favorites like Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and I'll Be Home for Christmas are mixed with some more whimsical tunes like It Happened in Sun Valley (my personal favorite)... It swings and warms and evokes great...

1.0 out of 5 stars Burned again
I swore I would never buy a LaserLight anything again. They have to be the worst of repackagers. Horrible mastering, ugly artwork, no liner notes of any sort and absolutely no thought to the material. Alas, I didn't check the label before I clicked. Only one of the CDs is a 1940s compilation. A Sinatra/Crosby compilation and a Glenn Miller Christmas collection are discs two and three. Half of the Sinatra/Crosby disc is from an old broadcast (actually I think it is from their Christmas special - if so. it isn't even 40's). The quality is really, really bad. The Glenn Miller disc is actually a radio program and unless there is a secret Christmas message in Little Bug Jug, the Christmas label is a bit deceptive.

Check out the offerings from ASV - their discs are always high quality.

It is something that I think everyone should have in their collection at Christmastime!!

5.0 out of 5 stars 1940's Christmas is a BIG HIT!, December 17, 2007
This review is from: 1940's Christmas (Audio CD)
This was an excellent set of CD's and quite a value, as well. I have thrown three seperate parties using these CD's in the past month and I have received nothing but praise from my guests. WONDERFUL!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Festive Deal, November 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: 1940's Christmas (Audio CD)
Well I got a bonus with my purchase of a 4th cd titled "A Festive Christmas"; over an hour of classical music that has become associated with the season- Pachelbel, oratorias, Handel's Messiah, arias and the like. Admittedly, that is the best treat from my purchase, and I cannot promise you will get it too. It is also by Laserlight so perhaps it is a freebie just not listed on the packaging...or it came from the record store because they are nice. Take your pick. Mine came in a big clunky plastic 4 CD tall package that I can't really explain. Doesn't fit easily anywhere. The Sinatra/Crosby CD is corny and of poor sound quality but if you are a fan of cheesy crooners half-heartedly going along with a gimmick they seem to have had little time to rehearse...on the whole its worth a try. The 1940s Christmas disk carries a great tune that always makes me laugh "Button Up Your Overcoat" with Dick Haymes, my favorite version of the song I have ever heard. The "Smooth Carols" has all crooners, from Crosby to Mercer to Como to Dean Martin, and is of good sound quality, though rather heavy on renditions of "Jingle Bells." For a better purchase, look for "I'll Be Home For Christmas: Christmas Classics from the War Years/Songs that Won the War". That is the best 1940s Christmas CD conceivable and is one of my overall favorite disks. I pull it out in June sometimes.

I have a large variety of Xmas music but found this set disappointing. Disk 1 is ok, and the other 2 are fair. Some of the recordings are poor as one of the other reviewers mentioned. Other Xmas music will probably deliver a better value.
