Founded by flute and trumpet player Placido Acevedo, Cuarteto Mayari is one of Puerto Rico's most famous Cuartetos. Acevedo consistantly wrote his own material and has been compared to Rafael Hernandez and Pedro Flores as on of Puerto Rico's most famous composers of boleros.

Con esta musica creci en villalba y aibonito Puerto Rico junto a mi madre y mis hermanos que nos enseno a disfrutarla. Siempre me decia"Buscate el de Mayari" y entre tragos y jugos nos la pasabamos jugando cartas. Son recuerdos que trae la musica!
