Shaw's 1945 orchestra is considered by many to be his best orchestra. Although the cd does not contain his most popular recordings, it includes some of the finest big band music recorded in the mid 1940's. Much of the success of the 1945 orchestra can be attributed to the arrangements of Ray Coniff and Buster Harding as well as performances by Shaw and Roy Eldridge.
