5.0 out of 5 stars One hot chick who can really belt out a song!, August 14, 2007
This review is from: 1951-1955 (Audio CD)
I had previously only heard two songs by Mabel Scott: "Elevator Boogie" and "Boogie Woogie Santa Claus" which were great. The former song isn't on this CD, however. Anyway, I decided to get this CD and give it a try. It did not disappoint. All the songs are incredible. What a blues shouter and very underrated today, compared to more well known artists like Ruth Brown and LaVern Baker, etc. If you like jump blues, blues shouting, or early r'n'b, seek this out. I just wish that there were more than 16 songs here.
