5.0 out of 5 stars compliments galore!
I love this pen and so does everyone who sees me wearing it it comes with blue ink, so i went to staples and got some black in inkstead. it's a bit hard to find a filler that fits without opening any boxes (i had a lovely employee help me) but otherwise, it's just perfect. i imagine most people won't be as particular with their ink as i was.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible Service! Buyer Beware!, November 4, 2009

I ordered this necklace on September 15th, in plenty of time to use it as a prop for a Mad Men Halloween costume. When I recieved it, the pen part of the necklace was damaged and unusable. I contacted the company and they sent me a return envelope so I could send it back for repairs. Being that it was the first week of October I told them that I did not want to send it in if they could not guarantee that I would have it back by Halloween, and they assured me I would have it. On October 21 they left a message on my husbands cellphone stating that they could not figure out what was wrong with the item. I called them back 2 days later. First they told me that they couldnt find my order, then they told me that they sent it back to me on 10/20 (obviously that was not true as they called on 10/21), then they told me that when I sent the pen in it went directly to the repair department and it came back up to them from there, and that's why they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. The girl then assured me that they had mailed it back on either the 23rd or the 24th, so I should definitely have it by Halloween. Well, it's November 4 and I still don't have it (It's not coming- these people are so disorganized they don't know what they are doing). Now I'm out $20 + shipping and I had to buy a similar product to replace the one I didn't have for Halloween. This company stole my money and lied to me several times. I will never order from them again.

Ordered this necklace for a fan of AMC's Mad Men series - she was very happy with it, and wore it when she gave a business presentation. Doesn't look cheap; good quality. And the pen actually works!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Functional Necklace, December 25, 2010

This review is from: 1960s Vintage Inspired Gold Tone Pen Necklace (Jewelry)
I bought this pen necklace and gave it as part of Christmas gifts to co-workers, family members, and friends. One of my co-workers loved it so much that she immediately wore it at work after she opened my gift bag to her. I love the AMC show, "Mad Men", as many individuals do, and I'm very proud of Jon Hamm, who plays Don Draper, and who is a Mizzou alumni like me. Go Mizzou! And I'm very proud of Christina Hendricks who plays Joan Holloway. She's a great actress on the show, and Christina is absolutely a breath of fresh air and a great role model for all the curvy and more realistic-sized women existing on this planet. I love that the pen necklace is one of her signature looks/trademarks on the show, and that many people have loved dressing up as Joan Holloway on Halloween, and that there is a Barbie doll in her character's likeness with the pen necklace. This 1928 Jewelry Co. necklace is very well-made, not cheap looking at all! 1928 Jewelry Company is a pretty good jewelry company, and over the years, dating back to high school, I have owned many 1928 Jewelry Co. pieces. Out of all the 1928 Jewelry Co. pieces that I own, this pen necklace ranks No. 1 on my list as my favorite 1928 Jewelry Co. piece. I have always loved writing since I was a kid, and I live by the motto: "The Pen is Mightier Than the Sword". This necklace symbolizes that motto! The gold pen has a beautiful, sleek, vintage look to it, and the pen writes smoothly in blue ink. I hate wearing heavy jewelry, especially heavy necklaces, so it's a plus that this pen necklace is light to wear. Whether it's at the workplace, department store, grocery store, etc., one of the most asked questions is: "Do you have a pen?". This necklace solves the problem. No more searching for a pen for yourself or for strangers who ask you this question. And you look great at the same time. I absolutely think this necklace makes a great gift because I know for sure that all the women I gave this necklace to are going to use and wear the necklace! Thanks, "Mad Men" and Joan Holloway aka Christina Hendricks for reminding us women about the pen necklace. It's a beautiful and functional statement piece!

2.0 out of 5 stars Gave me a rash, September 3, 2010

I absolutely love my pen necklace. It's so convenient in the office.
However, it's not without its faults: the black finger-grip part is wearing off. The gold is showing through. It only took about a week of use for the color to come off.
Second, it gave me a really bad rash on my neck, in an exact arch where the chain lies. I'm not allergic to any metals I know of, and it started when I got this. It might be crappy cheap metal or the abrasion on the chain on my neck skin, but either way, the pen caused it. I'm going to be replacing the chain with something better so it'll go away.
The pen is hella cute and I get nothing but compliments on it.

4.0 out of 5 stars way too expensive, January 5, 2012

its cute and different which is what i look for in my jewelry. Way too expensive though so i def wouldnt get it again. if i could go back i would probably buy one of the ones with the stones on it. It comes with blue ink so i had to buy a different cartrige with black cuz i work at a hospital and you cant write with blue. I've had it for a month and its still "gold". the pen itself is a bit short so it feels weird when i write with it. I mostly used it as a necklace anyway but it is convenient.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too much for too little, January 4, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: 1960s Vintage Inspired Gold Tone Pen Necklace (Jewelry)
I was excited for this pen to arrive since for the price I expected a nice, heavy pen that writes like a quality pen. But I was disappointed when I received a lightweight pen that writes like a cheap one. Also, I was most disappointed, when I saw that the retail price on the tag was 4.00 less than I was charged. So, I wasn't impressed once I realized I was gouged by Ice Carats when the manufacturer had priced it much lower. I own a jewelry boutique myself and know what the markup on jewelry is, so there is no reason to mark it up another 4 bucks. Really bad business to leave the tag on guys! Plus what they charged for shipping was inflated. It could be shipped first class 1.75. But I needed the gift so I didn't send it back. My bad. I guess the company banks on this happening. I don't leave bad reviews but they kept hounding me to leave a review, so you get my honest review guys.

Better than expected. The gold is brilliant (leaving no illusion it might even be from the 60's, but since it is not actually old, that is just fine). The pen holds in place well (no slippage) and is a smooth ball-point black . The length allows it to fall nicely, and the chain appears strong. The price cannot be beat; since Mad Men's Joan Harris has re-popularized this necklace, most prices for similar items have become drastically over inflated (not so here). Great product, good for everyday use, like a little gift for a secretary or mom, or for a costume; love it and I will keep it for a long time.

This necklace is wonderful for the Mad Men fan in your life. If you've watched any of the series you can appreciate the look and styling of this functional Gold pen necklace. This was a perfect gift for our friend who loves Joan Holloway's look and wears classic vintage pieces.

I bought this pen necklace a year ago for myself. I get so many compliments on it that I recently bought another to give as a gift. The pen works fine and has black ink. I haven't had to change the ink yet. The chain is long and looks pretty. It isn't heavy and is comfortable to wear. Very pretty!
