WOW! That In a Word says it all! This set is aimed at collectors. If you arent absolutely crazy about Ann Margret then I doubt you will love this set, but If you are, hold on to your hat, cause this is out of this world! 3.0 out of 5 stars It Do Me So Good
I don't own this package of this sexy lady's renditions of past hits, but I have heard her sing many of them over the years. Ann-Margret's image as a sexually daring performer with a divine figure (compare to today's "boy hips" females) often overshadowed her real ability to handle a song. Once a protege of George Burns in Las Vegas, the lady did hit the charts with...

WOW! That In a Word says it all! This set is aimed at collectors. If you arent absolutely crazy about Ann Margret then I doubt you will love this set, but If you are, hold on to your hat, cause this is out of this world! This is pretty much everything Annie recorded for RCA Victor during the sixties, its all here, the fantastic LPs the hard to find 45s some of which took me forever to obtain.

In this set, youll get the holy grail for all AM collectors the recording of I aint gonna be your fool any more, most of you will remember this was the song "Ann-Margrock" sang on an episode of The Flintstones, in addtion you get The littlest lamb, the lullaby that she sang to little Pebbles on the same show. You get fun AM songs such as Hey little Star and Man's Favorite Sport (one of my fave 45s) Country songs such as My Last Date With You and What Do You Want From Me, and Rock out Mod 60s tunes such as Someday Soon and He's My Man. The girl sang it all Sountracks, Easy Listening, Rock.

Contrary to what "others " might think she has some of the best pipes in the business, and she shows it on songs such as As long as he needs me from Oliver (listen to the ending of this one, its amazing!) She tackled some of the toughest songs such as More and The Good Life and held her own! I only wish I had the type of friends who went out and plunked down a hundred bucks on a CD set.........just because.

The set is top notch exactly what we have come to expect from Bear Family, sound quality is terrific, packaging is wonderful, and you get a book with the set, not a booklet but a hard cover BOOK. While I admit the pictures they used are just ok, its mostly outtakes from photo sessions which they used for the Pleasure Seekers and On the Way Up. Its still very nice and its in full Color.

To sum it up, its well worth the price, and you can never ever get too much of Ann-Margret. I only wish there were MORE!

5 discs of pure pleasure. The voice of a kitten on the prowl! All of the songs from her RCA years are here along with the songs from all her musicals. This collection is so complete it even has a Christmas message. Try to find it if you can , it is well worth it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Underrated Pop Sensation of the 60's..., May 21, 2010

...and Bear Family records of Germany has done it again with this boxed showcase of all Ann-Margret's RCA Victor sessions from the decade of the sixties. After listening to these sensational tracks on 5 CDs, there will be no doubt that Ms. Margret's talents were at their peak behind the mic; but there's no doubt that many a dude will have her luscious image in mind while listening to this bachelor pad masterpiece collection. To help out with that are some vivacious sexpot poses in a stunning hardcover book that accompanies the CDs. Ann-Margret was truly an underrated pop princess, and it's surprising that RCA failed to make much of her recording career, especially since she was one of their rare female pop artists when the stereo LP became de riguer. She put real meaning into RCA's LP trademark: DYNAGROOVE!
Some of the tracks that make this worth the price of admission, for those not strapped for cash:
TEACH ME TONIGHT, THE BEST IS YET TO COME, BACHELOR IN PARADISE, WHAT DID I HAVE, BEGIN THE BEGUINE, SENOR BLUES, MR. KISS KISS BANG BANG and the piece-de-resistance, her rare recording of Andre and Dory Previn's THE SWINGER in stereo! So hot!

5.0 out of 5 stars what a piece of history., January 6, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: 1961-1966 (Audio CD)
I was very very fortunate to get the one & only last copy that was for sale in the whole world of this magnifcent box set of Ann-Margret's complete recordings from 1961-1966 here on Amazon. This box set show cases Ann-Margret stunning form in the studio. Some personal favourites for me were 2 songs she sung in the movie The Pleasure Seekers title track & "Next Time". The Bear Family have done a wonderful job at restoring all the tracks she recorded with RCA. I wished this box set was on itunes to download but why it isn't is beyond me. I don't think that there was anything that this woman couldn't do, respected actor, singer, dancer. There are so many standout tracks on this 5 disc box set that I couldn't tell you where to begin. But I will say this her version of "Mack the Knife" with Al Hirt stands up there with one of the best cover versions I have heard. The 72 page booklet also have some of the rarest photos of a young up and coming Ann-Margret before she was famous. This is truly a piece of history here, for me Ann-Margret will always be the singer before the actor for it was her voice that got me interested in her when I first saw the youtube clip of her singing on the Jack Benny show doing "I aint got nobody" & "Have a good time" which not long after this show she signed a recording contract with RCA for the next 7 years.

3.0 out of 5 stars It Do Me So Good, February 22, 2005
I don't own this package of this sexy lady's renditions of past hits, but I have heard her sing many of them over the years. Ann-Margret's image as a sexually daring performer with a divine figure (compare to today's "boy hips" females) often overshadowed her real ability to handle a song. Once a protege of George Burns in Las Vegas, the lady did hit the charts with "You Do Me So Good" and "I Just Don't Understand". So well done. She was cast in second-rate movies in the 60s but did make a splash in Elvis Presley's "Viva Las Vegas". She also had success with her shows in that city. The lady has lived a good life but deserved better than the movie roles she was handed. Only her "character actor" roles have shown how well she can act. As for the music, the songs are mostly 1950s standards and sound dated. No longer a youngster, Ann-Margret can probably still sing a good tune. I'd pay to see her perform, but before I'd pay the listed price for this compilation, I'd want a hug from this sweetheart of a woman. A guy can dream.
