The light output difference between the virtually clear, 60W PIAA bulbs and the lightly blue tinted, 65W Solaris bulbs is, if any, too small to calculate without instrumentation. What obvious differences exists between these two equally expensive brands of high beam bulbs (9006 is the designation used to identify your low beam bulbs) are twofold, that being, first of all, their kelvin temperatures, (which has nothing at all to do with heat, but everything to do with the color of their light outputs) 4000K for the PIAA bulbs and 4300K for the Solaris bulbs, making the Solaris bulbs the whiter of the two. The 9006 HID (High Intensity Discharge) headlights that come standard or as an option on most of today's new cars range between 4000K and 4300K, so you'll have to determine for yourselves which of these two brands provides the best high beam kelvin match for your car's low beam HID system. The second difference is the fact that the Solaris bulbs project their light at a little higher angle than do the PIAA bulbs, so if you're driving a small Honda Accord, for instance, these are the bulbs for you. If you're driving a larger car, say a Lexus ES300, you'll be better off with the PIAA bulbs. Unlike many other 9005 bulbs on the market today that have much higher current draws which can damage your wiring and headlamps, heavy blue tints that consequently produce far less light output than that supplied by the better designed PIAA and Solaris bulbs, neither one of these two bulbs should cause you a problem--by virtue of the heat they generate if your car's headlamps were originally designed for use with halogen bulbs. While admittedly expensive these high performance bulbs will significantly improve the high beam performance of any vehicle equipped with standard, halogen bulbs. If you happen to be on a tight budget then you can't go wrong with the 9005, 65W, 4000K Silverstar bulbs from Sylvania. Happy and safe night driving to you one and all.

Got tired of spending $55 for Sylvania Silverstar Ultras once a year almost to the day in my wife's Pontiac Grand Prix. Installed these in late Dec 2010. Just burnt one out today. Ordered another set of PIAA's. Can't tell the difference in color or output between the two. Great bulbs.

These are a great improvement over OEM's that come with the C5. They are white and much brighter. However, these are not HID lights and if you are used to driving with HID you will never really be satisfied with anything less. However, a great improvement. I am glad I got them. They arrived quickly and were about 40% cheaper than retail.

First... I ordered these bulbs in March 2012... One of them burned out yesterday (1 year or so) I went ahead and brought sylvania zxe. I still have the other PIAA installed on my fog light and there is a huge difference on how white and bright. The PIAAs are just a little whiter and brighter than the factory ones but not as bright as the sylvania zxes

My original review is below. I'm dropping my rating from four stars to two stars because one of the bulbs burned out today. They lasted about 9 months and less than 12,000 miles. That's a "fail" in my book, particularly from brand such as PIAA and the price point of these bulbs.

Original Review:

I've put PIAA lights on four or five of my past vehicles and have generally been impressed with their light output. This is the second pair of Xtreme Whites that I've used ('13 Ford Explorer, '10 Ford Super Duty) and while the light is definitely whiter and "cleaner", I haven't noticed a difference in how well the streets are lit. Either Ford uses a high-quality stock bulb, or the PIAA difference is too small to see in normal conditions.

I will say I like the white light better, which is the primary reason why I purchased the PIAA bulbs again. I sat at a stop light one dark morning directly across from a police officer (both of us in opposing left-turn lanes, so we were facing directly at each other). Knowing the cops around here, if the light was too bright he'd have let me know one way or another. As it was, he went on his way.

Replaced stock 9006 bulbs with these 9005 Xtreme White Plus bulbs in our '07 Honda Ody van. You must remove the small tab inside the bulb's connector but it's well worth the effort. These are MUCH brighter and clearer than the already good stock low beam. Amazing difference!
