All excellent original renditions. Magic Records remastered the material available in the best possible way, all very good, quite clean STEREO...but:
THE SPOTNICKS are an exception to the rule that later renditions are not comparable to the "originals". These guys went on playing in the recent years just as good if not better than in the past, brilliantly maitaining the same arrangements. Result: their old beautiful sound lives today with all the essence of the past but also with a superior Quality.
If you are interested, read my review of "AMAPOLA",2005, double CD. In these 2CD's you will find the later SPOTNICKS excellent interpretations of their old hits carried by a Clear, Full, Spatial, excellent STEREO sound.
For fans "THE SPOTNICKS 1962/1966" is absolutely a must have but consider also "AMAPOLA",2005; 33 better sound-quality songs at less than half of the price.
The very best is to get both, it's worth it...this is wonderful, clear-simple music (...clear&simple are very difficult to build) that makes you forget your worries bringing tons of hapiness in your unique time/space.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for every Spotnick fan July 9, 2008
Format:Audio CD
For those people on highschool in the end of the fiftees ,beginning sixtes
the fantastic sound of the Spotnicks giving you the feeling to be back "in
the future" of that time.
Especially "Orange Blossom","Its the End","Amapola","Space ship rendez vous" and "Western Guitar" amongst others on this record are masterpieces
played by this group
Recommended as well for people living in this time.
It's real music ,that's why.....

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Guitar hits! Poor Sound Quality! January 24, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I've always been a fan of the Spotnicks since being introduced to their music
in the 60s. I've long looked for a CD compilation which contained most of their
hits. This is the closest I've come but it's a disappointment because the sound quality is very uneven. Some
of the cuts are muffled with the background music almost overshadowing the lead guitar or
guitars. Orange Blossom Special, one of my favorites, has the worst sound/mix on the CD.
Either it is my imagination or my forgetfulness but I believe the original singles and LPs
had a much clearer crisper sound.

Were some of these actually remastered from old recordings?

Guess I'll have to buy the remakes.
