4.0 out of 5 stars A Solid Swedish Set
I have just purchased and listened to this CD several times now and I feel that this is a solid overview of a 60s band from Sweden that, while not in the league of the Beatles, compares rather favorably with the second-tier British pop/rock bands of the time. I'm sure this is a great band IN THEIR NATIVE LANGUAGE. But it's hard to have an emotional impact when you're singing lyrics phonetically. Unintended humor such as, "Hey fellas have you heard the juice!" hurt this CD tremendously.

I have just purchased and listened to this CD several times now and I feel that this is a solid overview of a 60s band from Sweden that, while not in the league of the Beatles, compares rather favorably with the second-tier British pop/rock bands of the time. My previous exposure to The Tages was through the Nuggets II box set, which had their song "I Read You Like An Open Book", an excellent song which is included in this collection. The 32 songs on this single CD (real value for the money!) progress from Beatles/Brit Beat sound-alikes & Motown covers in the beginning to a vibrant commerical sounding pop/rock sound at the end. The lead vocals are fine and understandable, again progressing to confidence at the end. The only problem that I have is that the liner notes are in Swedish, but this CD was made for the domestic Swedish market and one can probably find out more about the band via the Internet. I do recommend this CD to fans of groups such as the Hollies, the Small Faces, the Zombies, etc., as a fine example of how the 60s British Beat Boom influenced Continental European bands.

Great collection by this often overlooked Swedish band. Holds up well to the likes of contemporaries The Pretty Things (S.F. Sorrow), The Action (Rolled Gold), The Remains (Remains), and The Zombies (Odessey and Oracle). Highly recommended!
