Like The Title Say--This Is All The Hits,
By
This review is from: 1964-1969: All the Hits (Audio CD)
In the early Sixties Dean Martin followed Frank Sinatra from Capitol to Reprise. And from 1964 to 1969 Martin would place twenty songs on Billboard's Hot 100 and eleven of them went Top 40, including the No. 1 million seller "Everybody Loves Somebody." Not bad for a guy who was just a few months shy of his fiftieth birthday when he had his final Top 40 hit with "Little Ole Wine Drinker, Me." And they're all here on this moderately priced import. Martin's vocal style and orchestration was a throwback to an earlier era, but there is something appealing about his smooth vocals and his boozy persona. He was a fixture of the Sixties culture and constantly in the public eye, whether it was his Matt Helm movies, his weekly TV series or his music. Until Reprise releases these songs domestically, this is the best single disc overview of his Sixties output. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Absolutely Essential,
By A Customer
This review is from: 1964-1969: All the Hits (Audio CD)
This CD provides an excellent overview of the later Reprise years. It starts with Everbody Loves Somebody and ends with a Merle Haggard cover "I Take a lot of Pride...." The music comes across with a light hearted woozy wink and a leer. You just can't help but smile and relish Dino's wonderful devil may care attitude.
