The 1965/72 Ford Car Master Parts and Accessory Catalog (on DVD) is the original manual used by Ford technicians in the 60's and 70's to identify the correct service part for a Ford vehicle. It contains a comprehensive list of thousands of part numbers, thousands of diagrams, when part numbers changed in the middle of a production year, and other information necessary for any vintage car restoration. The catalog covers: Mustang, Bronco, Torino, Pinto, Falcon, Fairlane, Maverick and Thunderbirds built between 1965 and 1972.

This is not the same as a "Shop Manual". A shop manual is very useful, but simply does not provide the details necessary for most restorations. For example, a shop manual does not provide the full part numbers (i.e. C5ZZ-1007-B), when a part changed, nor diagrams specific to your model car. Instead, it contains partial numbers and only a handful of general illustrations (most may not even be for your model car). On the other hand, the Ford Car Master Parts and Accessory Catalog contains virtually every part number and diagrams specific to your vehicle by year and model. If you are serious about restoring a vintage Ford car, then your are probably serious about fitting your car with the correct part based upon the date of production. With many vintage cars over 30 years old, numerous parts have been replaced simply with parts that "fit" and not necessarily the "correct" part. For example, C5ZZ-1007-A is correct for a 65 Mustang made before 2/1/65 and part C5ZZ-1007-B is correct after that date. It is subtle but correct. That is just one reason why this manual is extremely valuable. By knowing in advance the correct part number your restoration, you avoid wasting money on incorrect parts that might (or might not) fit and you will know that it was restored the way Ford built it!

This was a replacement for an older Master Parts Catalog for the same models. My old one had gotten so it wouldn't load, and used an ancient version of Adobe Reader. This newer version can be loaded directly into your hard drive, so is much faster, tho has a couple of idiosyncrasies to figure out for the first couple of times. Highly recommended for anyone doing work on these old cars to accompany the Shop Manual, as well as identify parts that are Concours correct or are interchangeable.

The big issue for me is that it runs only from the DVD, using obsolete software (Acrobat Reader 5), and can't be installed on the hard drive for improved speed (hugely needed IMHO).

Due to the fact the pages are scanned images, search functions are limited at best. It is easier to find your way in an original paper catalog, but an original paper catalog can be difficult to find and usually expensive if you do.

Otherwise the DVD version is very nicely done with high quality scans and outshines all other scanned versions I have seen. All in all, a good tool for the restorer with a lot of spare time.
