Essential for wrenching
This was a replacement for an older Master Parts Catalog for the same models. My old one had gotten so it wouldn't load, and used an ancient version of Adobe Reader. This newer version can be loaded directly into your hard drive, so is much faster, tho has a couple of idiosyncrasies to figure out for the first couple of times. Highly recommended for anyone doing work...

Great idea that almost does it.
The big issue for me is that it runs only from the DVD, using obsolete software (Acrobat Reader 5), and can't be installed on the hard drive for improved speed (hugely needed IMHO). Due to the fact the pages are scanned images, search functions are limited at best. It is easier to find your way in an original paper catalog, but an original paper catalog can be...

This was a replacement for an older Master Parts Catalog for the same models. My old one had gotten so it wouldn't load, and used an ancient version of Adobe Reader. This newer version can be loaded directly into your hard drive, so is much faster, tho has a couple of idiosyncrasies to figure out for the first couple of times. Highly recommended for anyone doing work on these old cars to accompany the Shop Manual, as well as identify parts that are Concours correct or are interchangeable.

It is easier to find your way in an original paper catalog, but an original paper catalog can be difficult to find and usually expensive if you do. Otherwise the DVD version is very nicely done with high quality scans and outshines all other scanned versions I have seen. All in all, a good tool for the restorer with a lot of spare time. |
