It is my hope that this book will be a testimonial to the many people, young and old, who practiced what came to be called the "New Politics" in the contest for the Democratic presidential nomination in the year 1968; that it will fill in some of the information gaps and clear up some of the misunderstandings that arose in the course of the campaign and prove to be a worthwhile commentary not only on the politics of 1968 but be a help in understanding and influencing American politics and government policies in the future.
