4.0 out of 5 stars Another strong entry in this series, May 15, 2005

This review is from: 1972: 20 Original Chart Hits (Audio CD)
The best songs on this CD include The Fortunes-Storm in a Teacup (my favorite song on the CD, a truly great pop song), Deep Purple-Never Before, Procol Harum-Conquistador, and Hawkwind-Silver Machine (a hard rocker, Lemmy Kilminster's old band prior to forming Motorhead).
This entry in the series has more US chart hits than most of the others, including the Don McLean tunes (although American Pie is the not the full length version here), The Hollies-Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress, and Hurricane Smith-Oh Babe What Would You Say.
The Move-California Man was later covered by Cheap Trick. What Is Life is by Olivia Newton-John. She does an excellent cover job of George Harrison's hit, although Harrison's version is still better. Duncan Browne-Journey actually sounds like it could be a George Harrison song. Browne sounds just like Harrison.
The weakest track on here is Charlie Drake-Puckwudgie.
FYI-10538 Overture is by ELO.
