Format: Paperback
Kipnis’ meticulous analysis provides fascinating insights and valuable information on the Israeli decision-making process leading to the 1973 War, on the relationships between some of the key leaders, and on the relationships between Israel and the United States. This book is rich with data, important and engaging. It is a must read for scholars, students, and policy makers who wish to understand the pitfalls leading to 6 October 1973, when 500 Israeli soldiers had to face 80,000 Egyptian soldiers.

This book is great because it explores the Middle East conflict with enough depth and insight to satisfy a historian on the subject, while it also employs a writing style that would engage a reader who has little previous knowledge of the topic. I would feel comfortable reading it as a casual introduction to the Israeli-Egyptian conflict, for pleasure, or as the basis of a research project.

Anyone who has an interest in the Middle East; Israel and Egypt; the United States, its international relations, and its conflict with the USSR; or general global politics would enjoy this book. If you love intrigue, history, or clever insightful writing definitely get a copy. It is quick, informative, and always interesting; easy to follow and hard to put down!

The Road to War explained in great detail about the leaders and their mistakes, faulty reasoning and swollen egos that led to an unnecessary war. A very good "read".
