This is a mixtape. Not an extremely well mixed one at that.It cuts out randomly and the quality isn't very high However, the beats are pretty good and the lyrics are great. So, just a word of advice, avoid unless you are collecting his discography. Go get Ravipops instead. I just wonder what they were thinking about when they put this out like this?

After seeing these other reviews, I had to do this. These people are crazy. Yeah it doesn't sound that good, but either did Ravipops and that was a great album. This is just as good, if not better cuz it has a lot of Walz rapping, and minimal guests. The beats are really tight, and Walz is better than ever. I like this better than year of the Beast. Can't wait for another true album though, as this is a mixtape. Def Jux releases are always good, and Walz next one should be incredible.

It's C-Rayz thats about all I can say,

This album is pretty much a mixtape of a bunch of C-Rayz Walz' tracks outside of his Def Jux releases. Its mixed terribly, and some of the tracks are low quality. The songs are by C-Rayz so they are good throughout, but you've probably heard them before if you're reading this. This whole thing seems rushed and unecessary. Pick up Ravipops, or The Limelight if you can find it, and avoid this.

3.75 Stars! But Disclaimer Needed!,

Yes, a disclaimer is needed. This is basically a mixtape of old C Rayz material. And the mixing is horrible on a few songs, if it is even considered mixing. Basically, a few songs cut off in the middle of a verse and are incomplete. I don't know whether this was sloppiness on the part of the label, but Ill Bill and Uncle Howie are usually more precise with their release. I want to assume that for certain songs they only had a the shortened version?Knowing the technical deficiencies, the material contained on hear is pure gold and classic C Rayz. Easily better than Year of the Beast - and the beats are banging. C Rayz drops some gems "we both bleed firetruck paint!" At the price on amazon it is definitely worth a purchase. And the audio quality was fine for me - the levels go up and down a bit, but nothing drastic. Listening on a good system/headphones will help a great deal.

Wake up people.,
This review is from: 1975 Return of the Beast (Audio CD)
This is a mixtape of some pretty old songs. Some are hard to find and that's why he put this album out. The songs are top notch even if the audio quality isn't. Like I said, they're old. I see people on here talking about Ravipops and Year Of The Beast. Both are solid albums but get his earlier work if at all possible. It's hard to find but possible. Look for The Prelude, The Limelight, and Singular Plurals 1&2. He's in the midst of dropping 3 limited edition albums of only 3,000 copies each. You can get them on his myspace. The first is good, the second is classic, and the third is to be dropped soon. Just get whatever you can, and actually listen to this guy. You might learn something.

1975: Return Of The Beast,

This is a great collection of tracks but like said before by other reviewers, the songs cut out funny from one track to the next. There seems to be a 2 sec. delay or so. Another complaint would be that the songs do not blend at all. Its organization is very sloppy. The High Points-- C-Rayz' is a lyrical beast and the beats that he's rockin to are dope. For fans I do recommend this, but for heads who are new to him I would suggest that you start elsewhere. Peace!

Dissappointing Audio Quality,
This review is from: 1975 Return of the Beast (Audio CD)
The Rhymes and Beats are mainly top notch. In contrast, the audio quality and presentation are markedly amateurish. Skip this disk and buy Ravipops or Year of the Beast; both very dope overall packages. This CD, in it's current incarnation, is unrecommendable to anyone except for those that have grown too familiar with Ravipops and Year of the Beast, and just need a new fix of C-Rayz Walz. I was very much disappointed with this purchase. |
