This review is from: 1979 Guitar language: Teach yourself free form improvisation technique, book one (Paperback)
After playing my first guitar, I pursued anyone who could teach me how to play it. However, back then there was no internet as we know it, so I had to resort to friends or guitar teachers. For years, many of the teachers did not want to teach me the theory I wanted to learn, but they were glad to take my money while teaching me "skip to my lou" or other juvenile junk. I knew deep down that there were these "boxes" on the fretboard that the pros would play in, but there was nobody to show me. Then, a relative whom had just started to play loaned me this book. I looked at the diagrams with all the dots on them and didn't think much of them. Two weeks later, my relative was running up and down scale patterns, and I was shocked. I said, "Where did you learn that?" He said, "In that book!" So I studied it. And then the skies opened, the sun shined in, and the angels sang...Well maybe not like that, but it was an epiphany. Now I was able to play in any key, in any mode, anywhere on the neck. After many years, I bought my own copy. This book has valuable information in it, and it has much sentimental value. I would highly recommend it.
