3.0 out of 5 stars A great series of CDs starting to run out of steam, May 16, 2005

patc71s (Stratford, CT USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 1982: 20 Original Chart Hits (Audio CD)
I have all the CDs in this series from 1970 to 1982 and this one by far is the weakest one in the series.
The best songs on here include Thomas Dolby-She Blinded Me with Science (which was a 1983 US hit), White & Torch-Parade (this song sounds like Marillion, who is also on this disc), The Stranglers-Golden Brown, America-You Can do Magic, & J. Geils Band-Centrefold (or Centerfold as it was known in the states). Melba Moore-Love's Comin' At Ya is a good slice of disco.
But there are some truly bad songs on here that weigh this CD down. The worst song here is Adrian Gurvitz-Classic. It probably falls under the singer-songwriter adult contemporary style of music. The next really bad song here is Eddy Grant-I Don't Wanna Dance, which is a really weak reggae tune. These back-to-back lame tunes really bring this CD down. Many of the other songs on here are OK, but nothing too special.
Still the CD is a bargain as you do get 20 songs. But I can only give this CD 3 stars at best.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great selection, September 27, 2002

I sampled a few of the songs on this CD and loved it. Classics such as "She Blinded Me With Science" are timeless. Buy a copy and save for your kids to listen to when they reach thirty.
