5.0 out of 5 stars what a breath of fresh air, hip hop's still here
I just picked up 1982 today and I only listened to it once, but after the first listen; sh*ts fire! I can't decide which is my favorite song on it yet. If any one reading this has never heard Termanology spit or even one of Statik's beats, go get this right now. 2.0 out of 5 stars good lyrics over awful beats (2.5 stars)
And to think that I took time to listen 1982 because of Statik...I've never heard this guy Termanology before but I'm quite following Statik's career since the days he dropped those infamous mixtapes featuring Nas and others estabilished artists.

I just picked up 1982 today and I only listened to it once, but after the first listen; sh*ts fire! I can't decide which is my favorite song on it yet. If any one reading this has never heard Termanology spit or even one of Statik's beats, go get this right now. I was expecting great things from this release because Statik Selektah's beats are always complex(one of the best doin it) and Term's lyrics just flow together. I don't know how Termanology is not on a major label yet. Even the guests list is nice. Cassidy, Reks, Xzibit, Bun B, M.O.P, Saigon, Inspectah Deck, Freeway(rips it), Styles P, Masspike Miles, and Jared Evan. Nice list and not too many people to take over the album, just enough. People need to stop sleepin on Boston hip hop and Term reps to the fullest as he always does. If you like this album, I suggest you pick up Statik Selektah's first album "Spell My Name Right". CLASSIC! Also pick up Termanology's "Politics as Usual". This is what hip hop should sound like, not that bouncin with a hook and garbage lyrics. Term and Statik you a SHOWOFF. Boston STAND UP.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, raw yet melodic hip hop from the heart, November 14, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I first heard these two collaborate on the GTA 4 Lost and the Damned soundtrack on 'Here In Liberty City' and have been steadily bumping that since. An insane beat combined with deft lyricism dealing with the in-game doppleganger of NYC known as Liberty City resulted in a track far better than anything it needed to be. So when I found Statik Selektah and Termanology had a full album collaboration I figured they had earned enough good will to give them a try, and I was more than happy with the results. From the intriguing cover and title, the two set out to let you know this is a personal album invoking the year both of them were born - 1982. While reverent of the hip hop of yesteryear, they wisely decide not to copy a 1980s sound. Instead you have a very modern soundscape. Statik Selektah's beats are all excellent and Termanology is such an amazing lyricist that combines intelligence, humor, pain and love. With a journalist's eye for observing our society, Termanology drops insightful and real lyrics while perfectly rhyming Statik Selektah's diverse selection of beats.

Guest spots from Lil Fame of MOP, Inspectah Deck of Wu-Tang Clan, Styles P, Saigon, Reks, Xzibit, Cassidy and others are all exemplary as well. Get the first track 'World Renown' and try and resist checking out the rest of the album.

5.0 out of 5 stars a rare gem, May 2, 2011
This review is from: 1982 (Audio CD)
This album deserves nothing less than 4 stars. These artists make music that is an example of what rap is all about, and unfortunately, mainstream media and most of the hip-hop audience ignores in favor of low quality garbage designed to only get radio play. Please support real hip-hop

And to think that I took time to listen 1982 because of Statik...I've never heard this guy Termanology before but I'm quite following Statik's career since the days he dropped those infamous mixtapes featuring Nas and others estabilished artists.

I know Statik got a good ear to beats but in 1982 I don't know what happened...first 4 tracks r fire but the rest of the cd is a huge downhill minus a track here and there. This kid Termanology for sure know how to rhyme, he got good lyrics, nothing complicated or fancy, he goes straight to the point and I apreciate that, plus he got a nice flow.

The guests do their thing too especially Xzibit but the major problem of the album is the production. I definitelly won't listen again, it's one of the corniest releases of this year, and to someone who describes himself as the hottest producer out, Statik lost major points, he needs to step his producer game up and quickly.

Termanology has a bad connection
here is the result of work with friends, instead of work with good producers,
- his first solo album was a really good album
