3.0 out of 5 stars Catalog Title, Catalog Treatment
Much like "Ain't it Dead", Capitol Records once again releases a sub-par version of what could have been the definitive collection of Skinny Puppy Videos. Channel Dropouts... weird video glitches... absolutely no care or concern for the quality of the material being remastered.

3.0 out of 5 stars Skinny Puppy is amazing! Nettwerk is lame lame lame!, March 18, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I'd seen the video for Dig It years ago and was so happy to see this dvd release -- I didn't even know these guys had made eight videos! And, while I'm thrilled to see these interesting and rather devastating videos with these awesome songs, I don't think I've ever had a worse dvd experience. Not only are there no extras, there aren't even any basics, like menus, and no accompanying booklet.

Music and videos: 5 stars
DVD treatment: 0 stars

Skinny Puppy deserves better.

2.0 out of 5 stars SKINNY PUPPY = THE BEST! NETTWERK = SAD JOB!, September 5, 2001
By
"gutty_sharkstank" (Hope, RI United States) - See all my reviews
First of all, the only reason this did not get 5 stars is NOT because of the band (Skinny Puppy, the godfathers of EBM INDUSTRIAL) but is because of the utter LACK by the label NETTWERK that did NOTHING but put the VHS version on DVD without ANY MENUS, GRAPHICS, NOTHING EXTRA!
the videos themselves are 5 stars!
if you have the VHS tape, there is NO NEED to buy the DVD!
if you don't have the VHS, you might want to pick it up if you've never seen these MTV-style videos... although there are a LOT of videos NOT included, which is a shame since NETTWERK had YEARS to get a specail DVD version released. NETTWERK IS THE WORST RECORD LABEL EVER BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO PRIDE IN THEMSELVES OR FOR THE ARTISTS THAT USED TO BE THEIR MEAL TICKET! (that is until Sarah McLachlan came around then ALL the other artists under NETTWERK's control were ignored by the label!) SKINNY PUPPY & DWAYNE R.I.P.

3.0 out of 5 stars See "VHS" - See "Used", March 8, 2005

Unless you've already pawned your vcr then pick up an old vhs, and try not to spend more than 10 bucks because two of the videos are shot from the same footage, one is heartbreakingly misguided, another is taken from 'aint it dead yet', and punctuating them are infuriatingly short soundless clips of what looks like a great live show.

About the only thing different from the dvd with the vhs version is that there is a menu in which you can select the video you want to see, or you can view them all at once. Quality of the dvd is average. looks just like a newly viewed vhs. Which isn't bad. A definite for SP fans!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great collection of videos, October 27, 2003
This is a great collection of Skinny Puppy videos (not all of them though), the DVD doesn't have any extras like a menu, behind the scenes kinda stuff but djing a club with videos I get a ton of use out of this DVD. Every last video is good quality, both the video and sound quality, good enough to be played in a club anyway.

I would recommend this DVD to any Skinny Puppy fan and any Industrial type DJ spinning videos.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT VIDEOS!, April 14, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've been a Skinny Puppy fan since 1997! These videos are just plain awesome! If you have ever listened to Skinny Puppy, you probably know that they have their own unique style of music that fits in its own genre of music, and the videos on this DVD are just as creative as the music.

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent, March 27, 2001
This review is from: 1984-1992: Video Compilation [VHS] (VHS Tape)
My only problem with it is it's very limited. Running only a little over a half hour, and containing 3 live videos ("Far too Frail" & "Smothered Hope," which are almost identical; and "Deep Down Trauma Hounds," which is taken from "Ain't it Dead Yet?"), you're left wanting more. But other than that, what's here is excellent, especially the "Dig It," "Testure," and "Spasmolytic" videos.
