Nothing more than a masterpiece!, January 6, 2003
This review is from: 1986-91 Fast Times at Longueuil High (Audio CD)
If you don't know Groovy Aardvark too much, this might not be the cd that will tell you what kind of music they play. This is a compilation of three old demos from when they had a different musical style.
This album is simply their masterpiece. This is a furious and frenetic kind of metal, always original and sometimes with catchy and great melodies (ex. : Bakker's Pie, Sneak Attack). In the end, the music calms down a little but keeps all of its originality and intelligence.
If you like metal, and you like it fast, this is definitely a cd you must get.
John Hea's classics : S.M.D., Pull the Rope, Apolitical, Slave to Your Stick, Sneak Attack, Bakker's Pie, Summertime Again, Recess of the Mind (very complete song), Late (a crazy and brilliant one), Ball Pain in Brudenell, 181°, The Great Race to Zero (a very good way to end it all).

Nostalgia sets in..., January 18, 2001

If you're not from Montreal, you probably won't know who these guys are, but if you were ever into hardcore, I mean good hardcore, you'll love this album. Although Groovy Aardvark has slowly evolved into a mix of progressive rock and quebecois folklore, this recent album is a tribute to their roots and where they started.
