From Library Journal
The trademarked slogan of this annual guide defines its intended audience: "For art lovers who travel, and travelers who love art." Indeed, those wanting to know what exhibits major museums are mounting this year or the venues of important traveling exhibits will find this a handy source at a bargain price. While over 200 museums are covered, however, they include only the more prestigious institutions, with many smaller museums (and even some states) not represented. Most of the book comprises American museums organized by state; the last section includes select museums in Canada, the British Isles, Europe, Japan, and Australia. Information is also given about permanent collections and their highlights, the architecture, admission fees (if any), restaurants (if present), handicapped facilities, hours, addresses, phone numbers, and tour arrangements. Some of the entries are enlivened by small black-and-white illustrations of the museums or art works. Recommended for both public and academic libraries, though collections already holding Museum Premiers (LJ 10/15/96) can pass on this less comprehensive work.?Anne Marie Lane, Univ. of Wyoming, Laramie
