3.0 out of 5 stars Not for the Novice, March 17, 2003
By
R Thomas (Inglewood, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 1999 Computer Monitor Troubleshooting Tips (Paperback)
Although the book is loaded with tips on servicing a computer monitor, they're not for the novice. One needs to understand and have a working knowledge of the equipment. Replacing a part is NOT a piece of cake (as one reviewer says!). You still need a schematic diagram (technicians know this) to identify the part mentioned in the book. The book does not caution you of the safety hazards or precautions you need to know of when working on a monitor. It assumes you are already aware of the dangers when working on this equipment. Computer monitors are like TV sets. They can be dangerous for the untrained. For one to understand the workings of a monitor, it is best to get hold of books by Joseph Deposito or Tony Jamaa on the subject matter before getting this book. But for the experienced technician, this is good reference material and shoould help to cut down on the guesswork.

This book shows tips and tricks about fixing computer video monitors. An example: "Samsung Syncmaster 3 with problem A; Solution: change the transistor X". A piece of cake. Covers almost all video monitors available at the market. ( ) END
