"The Best Pre-Purple Rain Era Compilation Single", August 18, 2011

I've been an avid fan of the artist who will forever be Prince, since his beginnings in 1978, but with a career as lengthy as his, there will always be that special period in time when the product of that era holds a special place in your heart and mind and for me, the 5 tracks that comprise this maxi-single "1999 (Australian Release)", is that period. "1999", "Uptown", "Controversy", "Dirty Mind" and "Sexuality" are 5 of the most essential recordings of the 'Pre-Purple Rain' era Prince which to me, are most significant because, these are the tracks that created the 'Kid' who would soon after, show the world that yes 'Baby I'm A Star' and build the world-wide following that a true 'artist' deserves. Another plus to this mini anthology, is the oustanding sound quality of this CD...if you own the "Controversy", "Dirty Mind" and "1999" albums on CD you know what I'm talking about (none of these albums were remastered for CD release and honestly they all sound like crap). If you're a Prince fan (who is old enough, to remember the music he produced before 'Purple Rain') this CD is essential for your collection.

RIP to Duane Nelson and prayers to Bobby Z, classic Prince, March 8, 2011

the classic Prince three peat run of 1980-1982 his sound, his voice and his groove. this is a strong collection of songs that got Prince on the map and established his thing. RIP to his Brother Duane and also Prayers to Bobby Z.
