The drive is very quiet, yet there is no sacrifice of speed. Very good drive, probably better than others at this price. Keep in mind, however, that the drive ships bare without any cables, screws, or software.

I love this little dvd-writer. I installed it and it just worked. As I watch quit some movies from Europe and the U.S. I was happy to find out that it plays all region codes without hacks or extra software. It also works great on Linux (Ubuntu and Kubuntu)

If you need a writer with the feature of LightScribe at low cost and functional, well don't look anymore, get this product, for me works great at all after updating software of lighscribe in my XP, if you have additional software to create labels go ahead without doubs

Just purchased several weeks ago. So far it has worked well. I have made over forty DVDs, burning and using the Lightscribe, and every one comes out great. It also works with Windows 7 with no extra work, just install and use. Comes with Nero Express 7, which also works with Windows 7. Good investment so far.

I've had it for over a month now and I'm very pleased with this purchase. Everything works perfectly (though I haven't burned DVD-R discs nor used the LightScribe). I only had to install it and my WinXP PC recognized it easily. The price is great (got it on sale at Amazon). Fits perfectly in my tower and the size was even shorter than my the old DVD burner it replaced (giving more room for all the wiring in the back!). It has read everything I've throw at it so far and burns faster without any errors than I've ever had before. This is my 2nd LG DVD Drive for PC, I would not hesitate to buy LG again. I recommend this, especially if the price is good!

Price was right--delivery was excellent--unit works great--I am as totally satisfied with this product as I have been with others I have purchased from Amazon.

After looking at Lightscribe DVD_Writers on the Internet I finally decided that for the $$$ this was the one. I was originally looking at the less expensive model but for a couple $'s more I decided that the reviews on this drive from DVD test / revier sites warranted the price difference. Amazon.com suggestions also said that most people who viewed the drive I was originally looking at bought this drive instead. So then I decided on this. I have owned this drive for over a year and have not had 1 bad burn in 2 spindles, both sides included. Yes you need to be patient to burn Lightscribe media but the specs are right on for this drive. The only thing you will need is Lightscribe software but this can be downloaded from the Internet. Again, the drive came / came with exactly what was described in the sell / specs. I would not hesitate to get another one for my other pc if I really needed a 2nd Lightscribe drive. All in all an excellent drive well worth the $$. As a final note, even if you're not going to use the Lightscribe functionality, this is a great DVD burner / player (again) well worth the $

We bought this drive as a replacement for an older HP Media Center PC which came with a HP840 model Lightscribe drive running under XP Home. Recently the drive had become flaky and sometimes (in Device Manager) showed up as not even being writeable. We wasted time trying various software fixes found at on-line forums and finally threw in the towel. We ordered this drive on a Sunday afternoon with normal shipping. To our pleasant surprise it arrived the next Tuesday (in the Chicago area). All that was required to install it was to remove the front and side covers of the computer case, disconnect the old drive, jumper the new drive to "Cable Select", reinstall the new drive and then boot the machine twice: We didn't have to update anything aside from first using Device Manager to Deinstall and then Reinstall the driver. No firmware, no nothing. Since the machine is XP, of course, we have to use other software to write DVDs but that is no change from when the old drive worked. The LightScribe function works as well. A++ experience from LG and Amazon. PS: Bought spare IDE cable but didn't need it (old one looked kinked).

This drive is awesome.. The install literally look 5 minutes and with Windows 7. It found the drive and installed the software automatically.. Thank You Microsoft.. haven't had a chance to use it yet, but should be awesome as I have read these other reviews.

Great burner! No coasters so far. DVDs and CDs all burn great with no problems! Great buy!
