The 1st SS Panzer Divison
This book is great pictorial history of the Leibstandarte with some pictures I have never seen before in any publication. Do not go looking for a great narrative on this division because there is very little,but if you want to just relax and enjoy the wonderful photos then this is a book to buy for your collection.

Badly written, badly translated, poorly illustrated
I bought this book with high hopes. I am quite familiar with the history of the 1st Panzerdivision LSSAH - the book was very disappointing on every level. The author claims to have seen thousands of pictures, the ones he chose were more than weak. In this "History of the Division" he only briefly mentions some of the important campaigns. Finally, there is no doubt that...

I bought this book with high hopes. I am quite familiar with the history of the 1st Panzerdivision LSSAH - the book was very disappointing on every level. The author claims to have seen thousands of pictures, the ones he chose were more than weak. In this "History of the Division" he only briefly mentions some of the important campaigns. Finally, there is no doubt that the translation is very bad. (There is no such rank as "Hauptmann" or "Major" or "Hauptfeldwebel" in the Waffen SS.) I have the sense that the translator was not a German and is not familiar with rank and unit designations of the Waffen SS
